"Our approach has always been grounded in a balanced, long-term, diversified philosophy that allows us to take advantage of opportunities in the markets. We focus on what we can control as opposed to worrying about what we can’t, so that our clients sleep well at night.” - Wayne McCullough, CFP?, Beacon Pointe Managing Director https://lnkd.in/g-h7_FSs

These are my top 3 practices for creating a foundation for cultures and leaders we urgently need in the world today. And, they're great practices for any human that wants to be more present ... not to be more 'effective' but to be a better human. 1. Slow down - your thoughts, your movements, your speech. I can’t emphasize this enough. I say it ad nauseam to my clients and patients. This is so you can be more present, which is where all your power is. And, you can observe ‘fast’ and how that impacts your body and see nuances of #2 much more clearly. 2. Practice observing your physical tension without judgment or story. You’ll get better at this if you slow down. See #1. 3. Reframe your tension as a wise guide. The tension you feel is likely a request in disguise, or you needing clarity to inform your next choice. Your next text, email, the next thing out of your mouth will either escalate your tension or de-escalate. Tension is wisdom, and the path to calm and presence, often with a minute or two! ? Practice the above and see for yourself.?And, let me know what happened when you did them. ? And remember, rushing creates inflammation, but you can still move quickly and not rush.? ? Observing your body reactivity without story is useful in any environment - from work to home and back again.? ? And, what you observe you can reframe to create spaciousness around what's happening before you react, because likely you want to respond thoughtfully. This is the world I’m committed to building. What are you committed to?

in a world obsessed with rankings and comparisons, it's easy to get caught up in the race to be number one. but what if we shifted our focus from being the best to getting better? one of my favorite insights on this topic comes from baz luhrmann's timeless advice in "everybody's free (to wear sunscreen)": "sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. the race is long and, in the end, it's only with yourself." this perspective should be our benchmark. striving for the top often traps us in unhealthy competition and stress. however, concentrating on continuous improvement promotes growth and enduring motivation. it encourages us to embrace challenges and learn from them. instead of asking, "am i the best?" let's ask, "am i getting better?" this subtle shift will take us much further. ps: oh, and trust him (baz luhrmann) on the sunscreen. ??

What our bodies feel is every bit as significant as what we think. And feelings are, contrary to popular opinion, not the opposite of reason. Emotions are important messengers of our needs. They help us assign value to experience. So our thinking is, by necessity, grounded in what our bodies sense and feel. To think well together – and for ourselves – whether in team meetings, engagements with clients, or meeting up as friends – we need to be able to bring our whole selves the act of thinking. When we do this, we can access untapped stores of creativity and insight. And, as we do this, we need to be able to treat each other *and ourselves* with courage and compassion. When we do this, we build the core capacities of efficient and dynamic teams, such as psychological safety, clarity and dependability. In our programme, Thinking with the Heart in Mind, we weave the Thinking Environment’s framework for robust, liberating thinking with simple and readily accessible contemplative practices – practices that help us meet our rich inner world of thoughts, sensations and emotions, with greater awareness and compassion. 200 pages worth of content is just less than 3 minutes. - Real Story - Real problems - Simple solution - Funny examples (sarcasm) - Call to action That is it. After this video, I am thinking that "If it takes you 5 minutes to explain something, you dont know what you are talking about" What do you think?

Measure 3 Daily Wins... What you do during the 60 minutes before bed has an enormous impact on your sleep quality, as well as the direction and quality of your next day. Reactivity begets reactivity. If you’re staring at your phone before bed, mindlessly scrolling or consuming, not only will you sleep worse, but you’ll continue that same unhealthy addictive behavior the next day. Write in your journal three wins from that day. Then, write down the three biggest wins you’ll get the next day. No more than three. Do this every day for the rest of your life. Pearson’s Law states: When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported, the rate of improvement accelerates. Having a daily accountability partner combines tracking and reporting. Keep your accountability partnership simple. It shouldn’t take more than 2 minutes per day. Be part of the Grit and Grace community, where we have a common goal of living a life of significance. We share and help other leaders live a life of significance based on the learnings we have had from our mentors! In the month of April, join our Grit and Grace fortnightly Wednesday sessions so we can focus on growing our mindset to reach our full potential....starting with reflecting on our wins..... no matter how big or small... https://lnkd.in/gnANC7m9

A few weeks ago, I found myself trying to manage (control) his behavior with more systems, leverage.??It went about as well as you might expect, turns out clients, kids, and horses only respond so far to negative leverage.??It’s possible to win a battle and completely loose the war. ? In my limited experience of leading these boys I’ve realized that when something isn’t working that leaning into connection through physical activity is usually the best bet, and so we feed horses together now. ?I let up on control and leaned into casting a vision, as we work alongside each other on the dark icy mornings. We talk about what it means to be a leader – doing what’s best for other’s wellness at the cost of our personal comfort.?I see him leaving his warm bed to put on the layers and growing in his awareness of service to our team. ? ? Is it possible your sales cycle, relationship with your team, is stuck in a cycle of leverage due to an absence of vision? ? Do the people you’ve entrusted with know what they’re working towards, and why it matters? ? Do you notice people acquiescing just enough avoid a negative consequence instead of truly moving forward? ?
