“I decided on a career in medicine at an early age, as I have always loved the anatomy and physiology of the human body,” says Alexa Rozycki, Au.D. Originally interested in speech pathology, she shifted to audiology after finding it a more interesting topic. “It was in my undergraduate career where I learned about the anatomy of the ear that kickstarted my career focus in audiology.” Learn more at https://lnkd.in/g3hZnR-i

Awesome. Waveform is one of critical parameters in Neuromodulation.
I'm extremely happy to announce that my second PhD paper has been accepted in Hearing Research! We explored and characterized the impact of novel stimulation pulse shapes on the auditory cortex responses. Although still challenging to fully understand, they offer 'simple' alternatives in current Cochlear Implant systems to help hearing restoration. https://lnkd.in/ekDtw7EU Onto the next one!

Safety, hearing, and quality of life. Can active transcutaneous bone conduction implants (atBCIs) provide these benefits to users in the long-term? Koro et al. looked into this now that the BCI 601 BONEBRIDGE atBCI has been on the market for over a decade. They evaluated long-term outcomes in BCI 601 implant users with single-sided deafness (SSD) and conductive or mixed hearing loss (CMHL), along with an Amadé or SAMBA audio processor. They concluded that “subjects with CMHL and SSD/AHL benefit from atBCIs in terms of audiology and QoL over a total of 124.1 subject-years. AtBCIs improve hearing regarding aided thresholds and word recognition scores in noise that is clinically significant for both groups. Most subjects were still using their atBCI regularly at the end of the study.” Read more details in this Otology & Neurotology study here: https://brnw.ch/21wIR1G #medicalresearch #hearingloss #boneconduction #hearingimplants

Day 8 of 50: Balancing Passion and Discipline: Lessons from My Journey as a Speech Pathology Student My passion for speech pathology comes from the ability to help people see their potential and make a real difference in their lives. It’s what drives me every day as I continue my studies. But as much as I love what I’m doing, staying disciplined is just as important in order to succeed. Balancing my passion with the discipline needed for school means I rely heavily on time management. I prioritize the important things and always make sure to write down what I need to do. Having a plan keeps me on track, especially when juggling classes, work, and other commitments. There are definitely days when I’m not as motivated as I’d like to be, and it can be a struggle to stay disciplined. What helps me push through is reminding myself of the long-term impact this work will have on my future patients, and the sense of accomplishment I’ll feel when I’m finished. I try to focus on the bigger picture instead of stressing over the little details. To anyone else trying to balance passion and discipline, remember this: You are more capable than you think. You can achieve anything you set your mind to. The best advice in my opinion is to always write things down so you stay organized and never give up. How do you stay disciplined when you’re not feeling motivated? I’d love to hear your tips! #SpeechPathology #DisciplineAndPassion #StudentLife #LinkedInChallenge

Hi Physio Students, Physios, and Healthcare Professionals, Would you like to share your experience from your Anatomy viva? What was one question that you were asked? It was my first viva exam in my 1st year, and I was a bit nervous, but I had studied well. During the osteology section, the examiner (an anatomist) handed me a tarsal bone (which was the talus). They first asked me to identify it and then to explain its anatomy. The key in an Anatomy viva is that they may ask you about any bone, along with side determination. Share your experience in the comments below! #PhysioStudents #AnatomyViva #anatomyexam #physio
