Today is the 80th anniversary for the liberation of Auschwitz — the day defined as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. And it seems the world has forgotten the lessons. Since the October 7 Hamas-led terror attack, antisemitism has been spiraling out of control everywhere in the world, and cyberattacks against Holocaust and Jewish memorial and educational websites have surged at an alarming rate. In 2024 alone, Cloudflare mitigated around 47 million cyberthreats against these important websites — a 30% increase compared to 2023. Read more about our findings: https://lnkd.in/dSYgfz-k

A survey by the Claims Conference reveals a concerning lack of Holocaust awareness among Dutch Millennials and Gen Z: ?? 23% believe the Holocaust is a myth or that the number of Jews killed has been exaggerated. ?? 59% don’t know that six million Jews were murdered. ?? 22% find neo-Nazi views acceptable or are unsure. This shows the urgent need for global education efforts to combat denial and distortion. However, while most Britons feel that the lessons of the Holocaust are remembered now, 1 in 3 fear they'll be forgotten in 10 years. The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2025 is "For a Better Future".?It encourages us to reflect on the past and to commit to building a world free from hatred and prejudice. Every year we move further away from the tragic events of the Holocaust. As time passes, memory fades, and Holocaust denial and distortion grows. Every one of us is a link in the chain of Jewish history and memory. We each have the ability to make a difference in how we give to the past a living future, to share the experiences of our people with integrity as we etch them into our souls with each effort to remember. Let us deepen the meaning of Never Forget.
