While chatting for the first time via Zoom, the two sisters discussed their favorite things. In the heart of City of Northfield, MN, a small lemonade stand became a beacon of community and kindness. As the sun danced between the leaves, two young entrepreneurs set up their stand, their faces alight with the joy of summer. They had a simple offering: lemonade for a dollar an adult, free for children, and a sign that read, "Free if you don't have any money." The stand wasn't just a business; it was a lesson in empathy, a testament to the values instilled by a mother who believes in the power of understanding and generosity. The eldest daughter, with wisdom beyond her years, decided that no one should be left thirsty because they couldn't afford a drink. As neighbors and friends gathered, cheering on the young girls, the lemonade stand became more than a spot for refreshment—it became a place where community thrived. The laughter of children mingled with the chatter of adults, creating a symphony of togetherness. And now, as I share this photo of their lemonade stand, I'm reminded of the impact of small acts of kindness. It's a reminder that our children are watching, learning, and growing into the compassionate leaders of tomorrow. Let's cherish these moments and the lessons they teach us about the spirit of giving and the strength of our community. #NorthfieldMN #CommunitySpirit #LemonadeStand #KindnessMatters #InclusiveLearning #EmpathyInAction #FutureLeaders #Northfieldnews

I cannot over emphasize how true this is for me! As a new parent, having managers who were also parents made a profound difference to me. Their willingness to share personal challenges and vulnerabilities not only made their advice more impactful but also fostered a deeper connection. Navigating the emotional landscape of managing creative teams is something I see as unique. My own journey has been one of intense emotional investment in my work, often finding it difficult to detach. This entanglement meant needing surrounding myself with diverse opinions and engaging in thorough discussions. Observing similar traits in my teams underscored the complexity of managing emotions and empathy. However, it wasn't until I witnessed my daughter exhibiting similar reactions to situations that I began to truly understand the importance of maintaining calm, managing heightened emotions, and cultivating empathy. This personal revelation has been transformative in shaping my approach to leadership. It has underscored the importance of being tuned into the needs of the individual—not just as managerial skills, but as vital life lessons imparted by my daughter. I'm curious to hear from others: What lessons have your children taught you that you've integrated into your management playbook or professional ethos? #creativecommunity #management #drivingimpact
Among the most exciting moments of the superbowl was post game. Andy Reid, Head Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, attributed his ability to manage through players’ intensity because of raising his five children. Parenting is the ultimate training ground. Yes, to men and women owning it on the biggest of stages.

Humility - Compassion - Vision These are just a few key takeaways from our monthly Young Kings Luncheon with Andy Patterson, President & CEO of the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation. Humility: Being of service is one of our highest callings and signs. of real philanthropy. A powerful nugget from Andy was knowing yourself well enough to lead where you’re strongest. Compassion: “It’s hard to have compassion from a distance.” Lean in, slow down, and let people know they’re seen—it could be exactly what they need to believe in themselves. Vision: As our community grows, we need to think 10 steps ahead to address challenges now, creating solutions for the future. These monthly meetings—and advocates like Andy—keep me inspired to continue building pipelines for positive change. Let’s lead through quality relationships and a deepened sense of community. #YoungKingsCollective #Mentorship #CommunityLeadership #InvestingInPeople

In the mountains of the Philippines, there are many small villages that are hard to reach. These villages often don't get much help. Let's talk about a group of organizations working together to change this. Ray and Dawn Spoon used to be missionaries, and now they're helping out as volunteers on the island of Mindoro. They're working with FARM STEW, PAMAS, Siloam Valley Institute, and the SULADS to make a difference. Soon, 50 local people will learn about FARM STEW and go out to help these villages live better lives. I got to see what's happening with this partnership. FARM STEW is getting ready to send out kits to help, Siloam Valley is getting ready for the training, PAMAS is busy with their demonstration garden, and the SULAD director is heading out to a remote school to help with some problems. Talking to Dawn Spoon, she explained, "FARM STEW teaches people in these villages how to farm better and live healthier. Merma is one of these villages, where it's really hard to get food. But now, the kids are learning to grow their own vegetables at school, which helps them and their families." PAMAS and SULADS are really important for these villages. PAMAS helps with transport so people and supplies can get there easier, while SULADS starts schools that change lives. It's amazing to see everyone working together. With God's help, these villages are changing, and more people are joining the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Let's keep these frontline workers in our prayers. God listens when we pray. OCI's goal is to have strong lay ministries all over the world. If you want to stay updated, sign up for our reports and share this with others.
