Healthcare advocate passionate about advancing access to healthcare to underserved communities of children and adults.
We need every woman, in every industry and at every level, to bring this level of energy and determination. It's up to us to celebrate our leaders, to lift them up rather than tearing them down. Fierce advocacy demands resilience and persistence from each of us as we challenge centuries of ingrained bias. #healthequity #womeninleadership Let's Talk Women

Stop telling women to play small. On and off the court. In and out of their careers. There is so much chatter right now about the way Caitlin Clark plays. And no, they are *not* talking about her game. (They can’t. She’s a once-in-a-generation player.) They are talking about her personality. (Because how dare a woman draws attention to herself.) Caitlin Clark’s intensity, her passion, her “effusiveness” IS her game. Here are other messages media is pushing: She … … should stop playing to the crowd … needs to calm down … is too cocky … is too emotional To that I say: So ?? F*cking ?? What ?? Caitlin drops buckets and breaks records and has insane court vision — dreaming up plays no one can see before they happen. She’s a goddamn strategist on the court. AND she’s an entertainer. And guess what? If she wasn’t both … … we wouldn’t be talking about her … we wouldn’t be watching more women’s games than men’s … sponsors wouldn’t be sprinting to work with her … she wouldn’t be the #1 overall pick for the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) … she wouldn’t be one of college sports’ top earners … Ice Cube wouldn’t have offered her $5M to play BIG3 … we wouldn’t enjoy this experience as much as we do So, just stop. Stop telling her to be quiet. Stop telling her to play small. Stop telling her to calm down. Stop ?? telling ?? her ?? what ?? to ?? do ??. THIS is the energy and fire we need from all women, in every industry, at every level. And while I get that it’s not possible for every woman to do intersectionality, I’m grateful to Caitlin for using her platform and her privilege to do the damn thing. We don’t tell men to show off less. We promote them. We invest in them. We pay them more. Check your internal misogyny when Caitlin stirs up something uncomfortable inside of you. Because it’s not her problem. It’s yours. #HypeWomen #women #marchmaddness #iowa Hype Women

Regardless of your career path, this post was relatable for me and I am sure it is for many other women. It resonates to me specially not only as a woman but as an individual who came from a diverse background. Just because you don’t see equal representation of women that look or sound like you in your field, that doesn’t mean you can’t pioneer your own path and build your own stairs to break the glass ceiling and become an example for future generations. The definition of growth and success isn’t the same for all. Searching for your own identity, your own voice, the way you envision your future and creating a roadmap to get there is not only challenging but it takes a village. It takes surrounding yourself with people that you admire and those that respect and motivate you to reach heights you never even imagined. One day after hearing time and time again “no”, “not yet”, “you aren’t ready”, “you need to refine x, y, z”, you will understand that those obstacles were merely a chance to embrace the journey, persevere, try even harder, become a student of life and eventually advance. You too can become a role model to others and achieve success whatever that might mean to you in your own world, heart and mind. Life is a beautiful journey filled with ebbs and flows and only you can be the biggest influence of your own destiny. Embrace your quirks, your life experience, your upbringing, your different perspective, your accent, your work style, and everything that makes you you. Be the image of who you wish you had as an example to follow when you were younger and be proud of your achievements no matter how small or how big. Every win matters. Every step forward matters. Keep building your stairs and pioneer a path for future generations to follow.
Sandra Oh didn’t start her career surrounded by other actresses who looked like her—but it was this awareness that made her work even harder. When women and girls see themselves accurately represented on screen, they are able to see their own potential. Oh yearned for that reflection as she searched for her own identity, and though there weren't many who looked like her then, she gets to be that role model for the next generation—and that’s really what it’s all about.

The backlash to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts which accelerated in 2020 following the #blacklivesmatter #BLM movement is not just happening in corporate offices: it’s hitting Hollywood, too. “The Other Black Girl” is a critically acclaimed Hulu series based on the 2021 novel by Zakiya Dalila Harris. It follows a protagonist who finds herself the only Black woman in an all-white office in the predominately white industry of publishing. The story navigates every day issues faced by underrepresented professionals at work: microaggressions i.e. everyday prejudice and discrimination, gaslighting, lack of support, fetishisation, bullying and double standards. At Hustle Crew HQ we binged the series and discussed how effectively it portrayed issues faced by our community every day. Yet despite facing critical acclaim, the show has been cancelled after just one season. Are Hollywood execs pulling back on the commitments made in 2020 to increase representation and reach historically excluded audiences? Disappointingly it seems so… Might be time to cancel that Hulu subscription, folks. #deibacklash #diversityandinclusion #microaggressions #theotherblackgirl

Reflecting on the article about Regina Lawless, her journey and experiences resonated deeply with me, prompting a reevaluation of my own professional and personal life. At the age of 40, Lawless achieved a significant milestone by becoming Instagram's first director of diversity and inclusion. However, her husband's sudden death in 2021 led her to question the balance between her career and personal life, a struggle familiar to many Black and Brown women in the corporate world. ?? Lawless's realisation that true inclusion requires commitment from all levels of leadership and every employee is a powerful ?? reminder of the collective responsibility we hold in fostering inclusive workplaces. Her venture: Bossy and Blissful, is an inspiring initiative that supports Black female executives in navigating the unique challenges they face, such as misogynoir and the isolation of being the "Onlys" in their organisations. Reading about the struggles of women like Lawless and others in her collective highlights the pervasive issues of racial and gender discrimination in corporate environments. The backlash against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEIB) efforts, coupled with the underrepresentation of Black and Brown women in senior leadership roles, underscores the harsh reality that excellence alone often isn't enough for Black and Brown women to secure and retain top positions. Lawless's departure from Instagram and her prediction that more Black women will pivot to entrepreneurship reflect a growing trend. ?? The declining job openings for diversity officers and the reduced venture capital funding for Black and Brown women-owned businesses indicate a troubling retreat from DEIB commitments. As I reflect on these narratives, I am reminded of the importance of support networks. The shared experiences and solidarity among Black women and Brown women, ?? whether through professional groups or personal circles, provide crucial emotional and psychological support. This sense of community is vital as we navigate the dual challenges of racism and sexism in the workplace. Ultimately, Lawless's story and those of other Black women in the article inspire a call to action. We must continue to advocate for genuine inclusivity and equity, not only for ourselves but for future generations. By creating and supporting spaces where Black women can thrive, we can challenge the status quo and pave the way for a more inclusive and just corporate landscape. Sharing! Sometimes you can be involved for so long that you don’t appreciate the change until you step back and take the time to really see the big picture. Below is where I started October 2021 to where I am now. In the past three years I have learned a lot about people and myself. I have learned how easy it is to push Black women out of the workplace, how friends will betray you, and how greed/apathy/and discrimination can double the cost of a real estate development construction project. I have also learned there are some amazing people in and outside of Detroit I have never met that advocated for me and my Kornr Store project. I didn’t have to chase them down, spend hours filling out an application, creating a pitchdeck or convince them of my value or my purpose. They saw the mission and simply helped. Over the past three years, I have also learned more about me and my abilities by allowing myself to be in new and sometimes uncomfortable places. But for me, the bigger picture is to do good and to be better. And, three years after purchasing and rehabing a long vacant, +100 year old neighborhood market, rebranded as Kornr Store, I am a better human, friend/wife/mom and developer. #kornrstore #kornrstoretheneighborhoodmarket #purpose #detroitdevelopment #blackwomandeveloper #fooddesert #resilience #somethinggood #doinggood

?? Midlife Empowerment Coach & Advocate for Crone Goddesses ?? Public Speaker & Storyteller of Transformation ?? Writer of Crone Wisdom ?? Small Group Facilitator ?? Founder of The Midlife Revolution ??
Sisterhood is more than just a connection—it’s the foundation that empowers us to rise. Last week, I experienced the incredible power of sisterhood in more ways than one. ?? I had the privilege of facilitating the WHEN: Women's Higher Education Network Career Accelerator at Birmingham City University, where 30 women came together—many of whom had never crossed paths in their daily work lives. But in just two days, we built a community. We shared stories, supported each other, and began the journey toward fulfilling our ambitions. This was sisterhood at its best: women creating space for one another to grow, to be seen, and to achieve. And if that wasn’t enough, I reconnected with old friends at a wedding reception—women I hadn’t seen in years, but with whom I’d shared countless memories while teaching fitness qualifications back in the ’90s. Even after all those years, the bond was as strong as ever. Because sisterhood transcends time, distance, and circumstance. It’s the glue that holds us together. But sisterhood isn’t just about the good times—it’s about lifting each other up when we need it most. On October 11th, we celebrated Black Girl Day Off, a day dedicated to prioritising the well-being of Black women and girls. It was a reminder that our well-being, our community, and our sisterhood matter. So today, I ask you: ? How are you building sisterhood in your life? ? How are you creating spaces where women can thrive, grow, and just be? Whether it’s in your career, in moments of joy, or even in moments of reflection and rest, sisterhood is what makes us stronger. Let’s continue nurturing it, because when we come together, we are unstoppable. ???? Watch my latest video to hear more about how these moments of sisterhood shaped my week and my belief in the power we hold when we unite. With passion comes joy, Valerie x Marshah Dixon-Terry Miriam Lynn Jenny Rampling Rebekah Watson Rachel Stewart Amanda Stanford #Sisterhood #WomenSupportingWomen #BlackGirlDayOff #WHEN #Empowerment #Community

Blackmail Bob: Iger, C.E.O of Disney! A prime-sample of how NOT To BE. Have you kept up with the investors-calls? They are not good, not good at all! LOL, not good! Bob is with the D.E.I-agenda, and we KNOW this because of the movies they have been producing, full of D.E.I-bullshit, pushing sexulization on children, race-swaping-characters, firing stars like Gina: Carranno for her freedom of speech! You know it just goes on and on and on!! Then you see, other companies just jumping into the boiling-pot!!! LOL, I mean they LEEEAP into the stew! You know why? Because most C.E.O's see short-term as a bottom-line, they rarely think of the impact of a pefrmance until it's to late. The situation with Iger is even worse, as he has a FUDICIARY-DUTY to the share-holders to make them PROFIT, not sit up there and pontioficate aabout how pushing LGBTQ-sexualization on children is a "good-thing". : Clarence-Junius: Goode. : Federal-Postmaster; : Claim of the Life-Claimant.
