BIG NEWS: Illinois will bolster its #EV infrastructure through $114M+ in federal funding awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration. These grants include: ? Illinois Environmental Protection Agency will receive $100M to build charging infrastructure to support medium and heavy-duty EVS ? The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus will receive nearly $14.5M for its Aggregated Community Charging for the Chicago Metropolitan Region project, planning to build 196 EV charging stations Helping lower fuel costs and reduce emissions, these grants are a step toward helping our state meet its ambitious #cleanenergy goals. We’re pleased to join Metropolitan Mayors Caucus to announce a third cohort of communities who will participate in the EV Readiness Program, a unique initiative designed to support local governments of northern Illinois as they prepare to meet growing demand of #EVs! With our commitment, the EV Readiness Program will help 20 communities prepare policy and take steps so that more residents and businesses can access EVs and related infrastructure safely and equitably. "Working alongside our partners at the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, ComEd is committed to expanding access to EVs and charging for our communities across northern Illinois,” said Louie Binswanger, our senior vice president of Governmental, Regulatory and External Affairs. “Training through the EV Readiness Program is essential for helping communities navigate the policies and infrastructure planning needed to ramp up EV adoption safely and equitably. ?? How can we increase access to funding for #AffordableHousing and #SustaintableTransportation to reduce GHG emissions in California? As part of the lead technical assistance team for the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program, Estolano Advisors joined California Strategic Growth Council to present on the program’s goals and eligibility requirements at a workshop led by Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) and San Bernardino County Transportation Authority. The event included an AHSC 101 presentation, case studies from past awardees, and resources available in the #InlandEmpire to prepare future applicants for the upcoming funding round. The AHSC Draft Round 9 Guidelines are now available for review and the public comment period ends on December 11. Delighted to listen in to the Westminster Social Policy Forum on the next steps for Nationally Sigbificant Infrastructure projects. It is great people are starting to tackle the issues head on for better planning and delivery of these projects, with for example fast track processes and design governance for the lifetime of a project. There is a strong very strong pipeline but the challenges are real for these very complex projects.
