As I enter week four of joining MSQ, there are four things that have really stood out, particularly as someone re-entering the industry having moved sideways for a few years. ?? A massive reason for coming into this role was the promise that the MSQ Group and the agencies within it are highly collaborative and joined up. It's what makes MSQ and the people that work here unique - and it's what clients love in the first place and continue to as those relationships develop and deepen over time. I would have been very disappointed if this wasn't true - just another agency strapline slapped on to a creds deck with no substance - but that's far from the case. It's felt immediately with every interaction, and successfully cultivating a culture like this as you grow (MSQ is the fastest-growing group in the UK) is huge. ?? There is an entrepreneurial spirit and a genuine desire to build something fresh which again lots of agencies describe, but isn't always the reality. This transcends levels - everyone is here because they are prepared to get stuck in, regardless of seniority. It's exciting and I am glad to join them, also with my sleeves rolled up! ?? Joining an organisation of this size and structure requires a lot of 121s, which en-mass requires hours and hours of time; but it is SO worth that investment. I am getting around the business as quickly as possible, and being at peace with a back-to-back diary is taking some adjustment... A hybrid working culture is helping massively here. ?? Finally, and importantly, it's four years since I stepped out of the industry, and I can report my experience of being a working parent feels different. Back then the conversation was around being a working 'mother' and the company finding ways to support 'you'. Many men around the business would look on with empathy and say nice things, but then get on with their day. Now, receiving messages like the below from a male colleague (Matt Williams) shows how caregiving is moving from being a woman's issue to a human issue - and it's becoming normalised. People should just feel trusted to get on with the task at hand, even if that means fitting around 'life' as and when it happens. There's always more to do, but this is progress, certainly that I am seeing. #agencylife #culture #hybridworking #workingparent #collaboration
