Today is World Homeless Day, ?? Did you know that nationally, approximately 29% of homeless youth between the ages of 13 and 25 spent time in foster care? ?? Unfortunately, these young adults face increased risks of trafficking, abuse, and mental health crises, in addition to the challenges of homelessness. At Bates Mission, we're a small but dedicated nonprofit doing what we can to support these young adults as they transition into adulthood. We're committed to expanding our reach and services as we grow, and you can help us get there! Here's how you can get involved: * Donate to help us provide essential resources and support. * Volunteer your time or skills to make a difference. * Share this post to raise awareness about youth homelessness. Every bit of support helps us get closer to our goal of supporting more young adults in need. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in their lives. ??

Today is World Homeless Day, a moment to raise awareness and reflect on the urgent need to support those without a safe and stable place to call home. Having worked in the homelessness sector for nearly seven years, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges and vulnerabilities that so many people face daily. Every story is unique, but the common thread is the impact of compassion, support, and action in helping individuals regain stability and dignity. At Emmaus Merseyside we are committed to providing not just shelter, but also the resources and guidance needed for long-term recovery and reintegration. However, homelessness is a community issue, and we need more than just organizations working in isolation — we need everyone to engage, whether through awareness, donations, volunteering, or simply offering a listening ear. Today, let’s recognize the humanity of those who are too often overlooked, and commit to creating pathways to a more secure future for all. Together, we can make a difference, as nobody chooses homelessness. #WorldHomelessDay #EndHomelessness #SupportLocalCharities #CommunityAction #Merseyside

?? Happy Leap Day! ?? Today, as we embrace this rare extra day that only comes around every four years, let’s harness its energy to advocate for an essential cause: permanent supportive housing. Here are several impactful ways you can contribute: 1. Volunteer and Donate: Offer your time and resources to organizations dedicated to providing permanent supportive housing. Whether it’s volunteering at a shelter, organizing donation drives, or contributing financially, your support can make a tangible difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. 2. Raise Awareness: Spread the word about the importance of permanent supportive housing within your community and beyond. Use your voice on social media, host informational events, or engage in conversations with friends and family to raise awareness and promote understanding of this crucial issue. 3. Support Legislation: Advocate for policies and funding initiatives that prioritize the establishment and maintenance of permanent supportive housing programs. Write to your elected officials, participate in advocacy campaigns, and support organizations lobbying for legislative changes aimed at addressing homelessness and expanding access to supportive housing options. 4. Educate Yourself and Others: Take the time to educate yourself about the root causes of homelessness, the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness, and the effectiveness of permanent supportive housing as a solution. Share your knowledge with others to dispel misconceptions and inspire collective action towards creating positive change. By taking action on Leap Day and beyond, we can all play a part in advocating for permanent supportive housing and working towards a future where everyone has access to safe, stable housing and the support they need to thrive. Leap into action today and make every leap count towards building a more compassionate and inclusive society! ???? #LeapIntoAction. https://lnkd.in/gHgiQ99i

### Urgent Help Needed: Save Jenny from Homelessness and Health Crisis Do you ever think outside the box with AI? Now, we need you to think outside the box for something truly urgent. My girlfriend, Jenny, faces a dire situation as her rent has unexpectedly doubled, pushing her into a severe financial crisis jeopardizing her health. With asthmatic health issues requiring special medication, time is of the essence. We have until October 31st to raise $1,100 to cover two months' back rent; without this support, Jenny risks homelessness. Our dream is to begin a new chapter in Tamarac, Florida, far from the hardships in Hugo, Oklahoma. This relocation is not just a desire but a necessity for Jenny's well-being, proper medical care, and to be together. Donations are urgently needed to avert a catastrophic situation. Each dollar contributes significantly towards securing Jenny's future. Your support, regardless of amount, can make a profound difference between hope and despair. Please, visit our campaign and contribute what you can: b.link/help-Jenny. Your kindness and generosity are urgently required. #MicrosoftAndGoogleCollab #AIForGood #CrowdfundingSupport Lamar Morgan

This week we are acknowledging Homelessness Week at Star to drive awareness of the impact of homelessness in our community. A big focus of this week is our Op Shop Fundraiser, with all proceeds raised going towards Sacred Heart Mission’s Women’s House. We are asking each student?to donate two items of quality clothing, or one item of clothing and a warm blanket to?support this initiative. These items are to be given to students' mentor teachers.?We are aiming to conclude the donation drive on Monday July 29th. Alternatively you can donate directly to Sacred Heart Mission’s programs via their website:?https://lnkd.in/gBmju-gY Domestic and family violence is the leading cause of homelessness for women, with 45% of all women and girls seeking assistance identifying family and domestic violence as a cause. In fact, 2 in 5 women (39%) have experienced violence since the age of 15. What these devastating statistics don’t tell us however, is how many women are slipping through service gaps. Since 2012-2023, the number of women and children experiencing homelessness has doubled. The Women’s House is a sanctuary for women in crisis. It is a safe space where they can share their experiences and receive person-centred, specific support.

Family homelessness is preventable, with your help. We're wrapping up our annual peer-to-peer fundraising campaign. I set my goal at $7,500, and am just $1,200 short of that mark. Your tax-deductible contribution will ensure that asset-limited, income-constrained employed parents will have access to a financial safety-net, and that parents who are under-employed or unemployed will have access to the services they need to retain or regain housing. At Wellspring, our focus is on preventing homelessness. It's less expensive for donors and our government, less traumatic for children, and less costly to the employers for whom these parents work. Every dollar helps. Thank you for your contribution. https://lnkd.in/ggPEc_qK

#Homelessness is a big topic of conversation in the greater Seattle area—and one that can be loaded with opinion and emotion. If you—like us here at Campion—believe that we need honest and empathetic conversation about #housing and homelessness, then we encourage you “donate your small talk” this holiday season. Donate Your Small Talk offers a way to educate and inspire empathy with friends/family/coworkers who are frustrated and sharing their frustration with you. This new campaign from We Are In will help you talk about homelessness in a clear, compassionate, and sensible way. For example: Your Uncle: All those homeless people downtown are why Seattle’s crime rates are so bad. It’s not safe there anymore. You: I hear your about safety. It’s a big concern for me, too. People who are homeless, though, are more likely to be the targets of crime, rather than the perpetrators. Crime is a real problem, but people experiencing homelessness is a separate issue. Homelessness is a serious challenge. We need to talk about it. Please repost to donate *your* small talk and tag three friends to help spread the word! Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gR6jdCBR

On the frontline, we meet women like Shelley every day—women escaping domestic violence who are confronted with a broken system. They face two unacceptable choices: homelessness or returning to their abusers. Even if they have the means to afford accommodation, the availability is almost non-existent. Neither choice is acceptable. The system is broken. It is failing these women when they need it the most, leaving them without the support they desperately need. ? At 4 Voices, we have over 300 dedicated volunteers who give their time to help women navigate complicated processes to access emergency support or find their way into overflowing crisis shelters to stay off the streets. It’s an overwhelming task; doing it alone is nearly impossible, especially when you’re scared and vulnerable. We helped Shelley in many ways, but countless others still need our help. We have to do more. ? That’s why we need your help. We need to get a cuppa into the hands of thousands of women experiencing their toughest times. We need to be there—to listen, care, and be there when the system can’t. Together, we can make a difference for women like Shelley. Learn more about Shelley: https://lnkd.in/gJkvMGmY ? It cost us $4 to put the first cuppa into Shelley’s hands. Join us in supporting these women. Your help can transform lives by donating at https://lnkd.in/gTFHesvR ? ?? Help us change lives, one cuppa at a time. ? #4voices #changecanstartwithacuppa #Donate
