What does Catholic Social Teaching have to do with social media? 1. Solidarity We have to work together as Catholic communicators and marketers. We know this industry: its behavior, purpose, and unpredictability. We need each other if we are to push culture back to God. 2. Subsidiarity God has given each of us people in our lives to influence. Our own "mission fields" if you will that no one else is responsible for. Does Jesus make your list of the top 100 influencers?? TIME recently published its list of most influential people of 2024. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, I do not recognize most of the names on their list. But the sobering reality is these individuals are having an influence right now— not just vaguely on culture and media at large, but on you and I and the people we love dearly. So here is the question for us, then. Who makes that list for you? Maybe we can’t pin down 100 people or even the top of that list, but consider for a moment, who influences what you buy? What you watch? What you say? What you sing? Or what you give? .......Let me encourage you to be a person of influence today in the spirit of Jesus. "You are the light of the world. This could not have come at a better time. Let me explain. Influencers and brands have been struggling with this question. How can they publicly be Pro-Israel, when there are potential negative ramifications? Julius Dein had a viral post about the antisemitism he faced. There was even a debate on stage at the Nas Summit as to whether or not Israeli brands should hide their identity.
