Check out this article shedding light on the impact of misinformation on politics. Trump's campaign has long been associated with misinformation tactics. Steve Bannon, Trump's chief strategist, is known for mastering this approach, as he famously described it as "flood the zone with sh*t." Interesting read on the power of communication strategies in the political landscape. #Misinformation #Politics #CommunicationStrategy

Business is for #RankedChoiceVoting. Today, The Colorado Chamber of Commerce endorsed the November ballot measure to bring ranked choice voting and open primaries to the Centennial State. President and CEO Loren Furman summed up the value that reform offers to Colorado businesses and workers: “Political division and extremism impede progress and collaboration, resulting in a disconnect between the values of Coloradans and the priorities of their elected representatives. By expanding voter choice, we believe that Initiative 310 will encourage balance on both sides of the aisle and reduce the polarization that leads to bad policy for business.” Initiative 310 will encourage politicians to solve problems and serve a majority of voters, not just a narrow party base. #RankedChoiceVoting is good for business.

Black women have taught me so much. In particular grateful to Denise Howard Chudney Sykes Andrea Daugherty, CISSP, CHCIO, CDH-E Michellana Jester Cheryl Pegus Christina Baah, MD, MPH and many others who help me understand this country and how to navigate its complexity to advocate, work, and get results for still needed progress. “Because they occupy a marginalized position — shouldering multiple and intersecting forms of oppression, including racism, sexism and classism — Black women are uniquely positioned to combat injustices in our society. As the most subordinate group within racial and gender hierarchies, Black women have understood, perhaps more than others, what it means to live without full citizenship and human rights. By articulating a vision of freedom for themselves, Black women are also advocating for the liberation of all oppressed people.” It should not be the job of Black women to help me understand or process, and yet they have opened spaces for me with kindness, compassion, and generosity, taking time away from their own work, families, and self care to offer sisterhood. Black women have been essential to my healing and regaining strength in recent years. These women have been especially critical to, frankly, my #mentalhealth, after I lost my late mother to COVID during failure of American #publichealth systems that were blocked by budget cuts and politics. Among the >1 million Americans who died of COVID, a disproportionate number were from communities of color. Black women also were there when I experienced confusing things at midcareer. When I was naive and unprepared, Black women had wise knowing. Those of us who are so-called “model minorities” are missing key understanding of social and political dynamics of the U.S. that are necessary for any justice or health justice work. While I appreciate my education within certain ivy covered walls, there is a different education from Black women that I find is far more valuable if seeking to be effective to create measurable, real world results. #blackhistorymonth #blackexcellence #blackqueen
My latest article for MSNBC: “Black women’s robust participation in electoral and grassroots politics stems from a long history of exclusion and marginalization.”

Every election, we show up to vote and attempt to decipher dozens of offices and referendums. But imagine how much harder it would be… in another language. This is exactly what hundreds of thousands of first generation voters experience, especially those from Georgia's growing AAPI communities. Thankfully, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta and Branch teamed up to solve this problem and empower thousands of Georgia voters with in-language, nonpartisan candidate information. "One of the biggest questions we receive at the door or just talking to voters is, who are the candidates? Who should I vote for?” as explains Berenice Rodriguez, Civic Engagement & Organizing Director at Advancing Justice-Atlanta. Advancing Justice-Atlanta used Branch’s Ballot Builder product to provide content in 10 different languages. SUNDAY SENTIMENT Voting requires commitment, especially in a system that can seem hostile. That’s why we must educate ourselves about the issues, understand the stakes and recognize the impact our votes can have. It’s easy to feel like one vote doesn’t matter, but history has shown us that collective action can lead to transformative change. That is why those who resist change continue to suppress the vote, more than 150 years after the 15th Amendment. When we all show up, the power of our voices combined can create a force that is impossible to ignore. In 2024, we have the chance to continue shaping the future of our country. Voting is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have to shape our communities and our nation. It is a means of holding our leaders accountable and ensuring that our government reflects the will of the people. When we vote, we join the chorus that determines the direction of our country. #votingmatters
