Bladder leakage (#incontinence) is a progressive disorder: without treatment, it can get worse. It's a big part of why the U.S. has a $3 billion adult diaper market. Adult incontinence products can be a helpful way to manage symptoms for some. However, 62% of adult women live with incontinence. Adult diapers are not appropriate for all of them. They're certainly not the only option--not when so many can live leak-free with treatment. However, companies that make adult incontinence products would like you to think you can feel sexy and strong in their products. Our view: diaper ads help normalize incontinence. They can prevent women from seeking necessary treatment. As Sherrie Palm writes in one of our favorite articles, "suggesting women feel sexy or empowered because they are using an absorbent product to trap leakage flies in the face of common sense." We couldn't agree more. Be a part of getting women out of adult diapers. Pelvic floor muscle training is first-line treatment for bladder leakage. The Leva System makes it easy to access. Awareness is the first step. Check out Sherrie's article. https://lnkd.in/eeFJ-tpz #bladderhealthawarenessmonth #takecharge #pelvicfloor #health #doityourself

Bladder leaks affect women more than men. Too often, advertising messages reinforce the idea that they should embrace life with leaks by using adult incontinence pads. This leaves women who might benefit from treatment suffering in silence. I encourage you to read Sherrie Palm’s outstanding article: “Incontinence pads and undergarments do not make women feel sexy, smart or empowered.” The more we talk about incontinence, the more we encourage others to do the same. Incontinence is common. Let's not continue to normalize it. Follow @Axena Health all month as we share the best information and published data about bladder health. Let’s help drive conversation and awareness. #bladderhealthmonth

June is Lipedema Awareness month and it is important we spread knowledge of this condition that affects so many women. #lipedema #lipoedemaawareness #lipedemaresearch. Lipedema is a chronic condition characterized by abnormal fat accumulation on the legs and arms. It causes painfully enlarged limbs that become easily bruised. Many people do not realize lipedema is an actual medical diagnosis and not a result of poor diet or lack of exercise. While weight loss does not reduce the lipedema, proper compression garments and exercise can help manage symptoms. So this month, help raise awareness by sharing the facts with your friends and family. Together we can educate more people and help those suffering from lipedema find the diagnosis and treatment they need. #LipedemaAwareness #LipedemaSymptoms #LipedemaFacts #ChronicFatigueSyndrome #ChronicCondition #EnlargedLimbs #SwollenLegs #Lipedema #ChronicPain #LipoedemaSupport #BoxBarBeauty #BoxBarVascular #DrEllenDerrick #Wearyourcompression #BeautyisConfidence #BoxBarandCompany Seattle SeattleBoxBar Beauty BoxBar Vascular
