Non-Essential Knowledge It may be required to obtain a valid liquor license prior to the first day of work. Skills The following is a list of the basic skill requirements for this position. Essential Job Functions Utilize proper bagging techniques to minimize product damage, maximize efficiency and avoid shrink. Know and implement the Cosentino's Customer Service Standards. Know your store's items, procedures and policies so that you can accurately and courteously answer customer questions. Delivering groceries to and loading them into customer's vehicles when requested. Assisting customers in locating items in the store. Retrieving carts from the parking lot and ensuring they are safe and clean for customer use. Conducting price checks for cashiers. Monitoring the sales floor, cashier stands, and restrooms for cleanliness and keeping these areas tidy and safe for customers and employees. Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner and recognize when it is appropriate to involve a member of the store management team. Know, comply with, and encourage other team members to comply with all health regulations, sanitation guidelines and safety procedures for your department and your store. Able to operate, clean and maintain all equipment safely and competently. Meet or exceed productivity standards to produce desired team and individual results. Demonstrates the strong verbal and interpersonal skills necessary for positive customer and peer interactions. Demonstrates the basic math and reading skills required for the position. Know and follow all government regulations regarding alcohol and tobacco sales. Non-Essential Job Functions Return unwanted items to the shelf or the department to be re-stocked. Prevent loss of merchandise by checking the bottom of the shopping carts for cashiers. Support your company by completing additional tasks identified by management, assisting other stores or departments as needed and gaining new skills when necessary. Baristas and cashiers learn soft skills that many white-collar professionals critically lack. Spoken communication. Patience. Stamina. Reading someone's emotions. Handing objections proactively. People in that cohort are usually on the lookout for better opportunities, and many are HIGHLY qualified for associate (or even manager) roles in a white-collar business. If I were a SMB looking to hire a junior employee, the *dream* candidate (assuming they interview well, etc) would be an early 20-something with 2-3 relevant certifications, plus a year or two of experience at Chick-fil-A Restaurants. If I were hiring for a sustainability brand, I'd have my eye on folks from JOE & THE JUICE. Luxury brand? Bloomingdale's or Bergdorf Goodman associate. (Take my word with a grain of salt, I'm not in HR/recruitment.)

And you're at least 16 years old. Keep in mind, this is just basic information. You'll find out more after you apply. And independently-owned franchised or licensed locations may have different requirements.
