How many of you sell Safety or don't because you don't know how to? Do you know that a pre-check inspection test is the #1 mandatory requirement for truck drivers to pass to get their CDL license? If it was not necessary, why was it the #1 test on the CDL exam, for the hell of it? Do you happen to ever discuss Safety when talking with a prospect or current client? If not, you should! Do you know the possible impact when safety procedures and work instructions for a logistics operation are not implemented or enforced? Some interesting facts: Do you know that before an aircraft can take to the sky or even push back from its stand,?pilots?must perform various preflight checks to ensure it is safe to fly? Do you know the federal law for daily locomotive inspection, which provides sequential guidelines for Top/Cab inspections and Ground/Bottom Inspection §229.2 1 Daily Inspection—Each locomotive in use must be inspected at least once each calendar day. Any condition that constitutes non-compliance with railroad locomotive safety standards (§229) shall be repaired before it is used or may be moved only as a lite locomotive or a dead locomotive after the carrier has complied with Federal requirements for movement of non-complying locomotives (§229.9). What you don't know will destroy you, and what you should know will prevent you from tarnishing your brand, image, and reputation, as well as your business and customers. Don't let a catastrophic event change your mind; it will be too late, and you'll have to carry that burden for the rest of your lives. Protect your business and yourself. Learn Safety and why it's essential. If you called your carrier and asked them to send you their Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) from this morning, they would need more time. Why? Because they still need to complete one after the fact, only after moving the freight. If you didn't call, they wouldn't complete one. I love my family. Do you love yours? According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration , the percentage of deadly large truck crashes caused by newly licensed carriers has spiked from 4.6% to 7.4%. In 2022 alone, these crashes resulted in 494 deaths and over $5.5 billion in costs. ?? This highlights an urgent need for better training and safety standards for new entrant trucking companies. Bureaucrats who have little to no experience in the trucking industry listening to equally uninformed vocal special interest groups write rules that entirely miss the mark and oftentimes create more problems than they are intended to address. This is the situation with the ELD mandate. There is absolutely no statistically valid evidence that ELDs have in any way reduced truck/driver at fault accidents. The mandate aspect should be eliminated and fleets should remain free to utilize this technology (or not) as a matter of choice. Unnecessary regulation is bad for business and serves no greater public interest. #ELD #FMCSA

Personal Conveyance, and what you need to know about it. In the trucking industry, personal conveyance refers to the use of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) for personal use while off-duty. This provision allows drivers to operate the vehicle without it counting against their regulated hours of service (HOS) as long as the use is not for work-related purposes. Here are some key points about personal conveyance: Off-Duty Status: The driver must be off-duty for the time to be considered personal conveyance. This means the driver is not performing any work-related activities or being compensated for the time. Non-Work Related: The movement of the vehicle must be purely for personal reasons, such as traveling to a restaurant, motel, or home. It cannot be used to advance the position of the load or to move to a more favorable location for business purposes. Distance and Time Limits: While the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) does not specify a distance or time limit for personal conveyance, the use must be reasonable and within the guidelines set by the carrier. Logging Personal Conveyance: Drivers must log the time spent under personal conveyance properly in their logbook or electronic logging device (ELD). It should be marked separately from driving time to ensure compliance with HOS regulations. Company Policies: While the FMCSA provides guidelines, individual trucking companies may have their own policies regarding personal conveyance. Drivers should always follow their company's rules, which might be more restrictive. Understanding and properly logging personal conveyance is important for compliance with HOS regulations and avoiding potential fines or violations during inspections. #Trucking #PersonalConveyance #Logistics #TruckDriverLife #HoursOfService #FMCSA #TruckSafety #ELD #Transportation #LogBook #TruckingRegulations
