As I hear about more organizations feeling the need to sidestep language for their work that engages in restorative strategies for racial equity, these conversations are important.

The 2018 BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer's Act was a game changer, helping public health departments to improve brain health and support caregivers in their communities. The bipartisan BOLD Reauthorization Act of 2024 would renew and strengthen our nation's public health response to Alzheimer’s for another five years. By providing state, local, and tribal public health officials with funding and resources, Congress can help continue to increase early detection and diagnosis, reduce risk, support the needs of caregivers, and address health disparities—all of which impact those living with the disease, and their millions of unpaid caregivers. Today is Fentanyl Awareness & Prevention Day. In #Arizona there is a #fentanyl epidemic that has transformed families and taken lives. Recent data from the Common Sense Institute Arizona reports that the economic impact cost Arizona $58 billion last year. That includes healthcare cost. Nearly 2,000 Arizonans died from opioid overdoses in 2023. That number has doubled since it was declared a public health #emergency in 2017. From 2015 to 2019 the cost from opioid related hospitalization has surged 120% to $676 million. This pressure on our fragile #healthcare system continues to grow as fentanyl use increases. We #encourage medical professionals to get involved and become informed on #advocacy and #policy issues that have a direct consequence on our healthcare community, patient care, and physician wellness.
