Day 112 of posting my founder journey building Superflex! Yesterday, we heard something amazing - our customers told us that we're a much better solution for them than our competitor Locofy ?? While we had tested Superflex against our top 3 closest competitors - Builder.io, Anima App, and Locofy - hearing it directly from our customers feels very different. The challenge with the above design-to-code solutions is that they were developed before recent AI advancements, and their infra is built on heuristics rather than being AI-first, which also adds a lot of limitations to what can be supported. Also, we're not entirely targeting the same persona or sharing the same vision. For example, one company switched from Builder.io to us because we're built more for developers, whereas Builder.io's platform is better suited for non-technical people. In the end, the truth is even though it's exciting that we're providing great value to our customers, we know we still have a long way to go. Being the best-in-class Figma-to-code solution is our short-term goal - we're working hard on our longer-term vision of building an AI Frontend Engineer ?? Lately, I’ve been looking into ways to make the software development process more efficient, especially when outsourcing. I recently discovered the ability to import Figma designs directly into Flutterflow, and it got me thinking about how this could help reduce development time and costs. I’m still exploring this, but it seems like a valuable tool for quicker prototyping and development. 3 product mistakes we made that every startup needs to avoid - 1. Building a cool feature Our product converts Figma designs to code. We saw a demo video of tldraw, where it converted drawing of a webpage to code. It was a great demo. We thought we should do that too! We built the feature to realise that our users weren't interested, they already had design files or reference website to build from. Many tried it once because it was "cool" but it didn't become a habit. 2. Trying to change user workflow for "minor" gains When building web applications, Developers frequently open Browser like chrome to check the output. We thought we can show the output in their development environment and it would save context switches -> Better Workflow. What we didn't realise was that Chrome has so many features for debugging and quick iteration, which Developers are familiar with. It doesn't make sense to re-learn them, just to save on context switches. 3. Too many use cases too soon We thought of expanding into Designing phase, where we show design suggestions based on user prompts, similar to Vercel's v0 product. The problem was that the use case and the audience for that was different and it was almost a completely different product rather than complimenting our existing features. Learnings - - Keep improving the core workflow till users are amazed by it - Don't add features till you can get commitment from someone to pay for it, and in some cases not even then. - Ears on the ground with your users, not your competitors #startup

As the founder of a pioneering low-code integration platform, I've seen firsthand the limitations of no-code solutions compared to low-code. Here's my take: No-code platforms, while great for quick prototypes, often hit a wall when it comes to customization and scalability. They're like building with Lego blocks – fun and fast, but limited by the pieces available. Low-code, on the other hand, is more like having a 3D printer for Lego. You can create custom pieces when needed, giving you much more flexibility and room to grow. In my experience, no-code tools struggle more with: 1. Complex integrations 2. Handling large data volumes 3. Implementing unique business logic Low-code strikes a balance, empowering both citizen developers and pro coders to collaborate effectively. It's about giving everyone the right tools to innovate, not just the technically elite.
