We're excited about today's Monday mini-lesson! It is designed for 16-18 year-old students following ANY educational programme, enabling you to offer the benefits of the wonderful TOK course to ALL your learners. Wow, finally! When will it be our turn? For the SACE languages (continuers) exam, some languages have transitioned to e-exams, but others, like Chinese, still require handwritten responses. Teaching students to write Chinese characters by hand takes a lot of time and can sometimes make them less excited about learning the language. While learning to type the characters also requires time, students usually find it easier than handwriting . Living in the digital era, I often question how often I actually use paper and pen anymore, and now I’m asking my students to handwrite their exams.?? Don’t get me wrong—I’m not against teaching character writing. I have a deep appreciation for Chinese characters, and also used to be a believer of learning characters writing by hand is very important and having been trained through rote practice myself. However, as a language teacher in TODAY world, I rely heavily on typing, and handwriting has become less of a necessity. I type almost exclusively now, and the only time I really handwrite characters is when I practice calligraphy. Occasionally, I even experience 提笔忘字—forgetting how to write a character after picking up the pen—not because I don’t know the character, but because I simply haven’t written it in a while. In our increasingly digital world, I strongly believe that typing has become a necessity. That’s why I look forward to the new subject renewal process, which aligns with SACE’s Passport to Thrive strategic plan. I hope this change will positively impact our subject by modernizing how we assess language skills, making them more relevant to the digital era in which we live.

On the Observation Journal within the school forum is where we put our observations of the charts and give insight as to what we believe will happen based on the evidence we gather.?This is an incredible tool for students to learn what we look for, how we observe and how we interpret what we see. $GBPUSD example here - we ?? forecasted a move ?? higher which came to be. What's important is why we knew this would likely happen.
