?? Here are a few of the most powerful thoughts I’m reflecting on from Dayton Moore’s session: Make an advanced decision. A decision in the moment is a reaction. Take no credit for the wins but all of the responsibility for the mistakes. If you’re not making mistakes, you’re not being aggressive enough. Give people more than they expect. Don’t buy into fear and don’t let perfection paralyze you. Model the behavior you want to see. Be real with your team. You never grow out of the need to practice the fundamentals and build the muscle. You won’t be perfect, but we serve a perfect God who modeled perfect leadership in Christ. ??

Here is an introduction to Joshua, one of our 2024 GRIL U graduates from the Attic’s site! Josh is a senior at Link Learning High School. His mission statement is “to influence the youth to accomplish self-worth and wealth.”

In the spirit of our school's commitment to empowering students for success, I'd like to commend our Executive Director, Dr. Stauffer, for his article highlighting the importance of partnerships in preparing our high school students for the future. The article captures the collaborative efforts between various educational partners, including local businesses, educators, counselors, administrators, and industry representatives, to ensure that no student is left behind in their pursuit of valuable skills and opportunities. Dr. Stauffer emphasizes the important role of Career and Technology Centers in providing high-quality education that equips students with practical, hands-on learning experiences. By partnering with local businesses and industry, our centers bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, preparing students for success in college, postsecondary training, the military, or the workforce. I particularly appreciate the emphasis on the alignment of curriculum with industry standards, the provision of industry-standard tools and equipment, and the opportunity for students to earn nationally recognized certifications. These initiatives not only enhance students' understanding of their chosen fields but also cultivate a skilled workforce that contributes to the prosperity of Berks County. The article highlights the importance of early engagement and informed decision-making for students, facilitated through career presentations, campus tours, and open house events. By fostering positive relationships and collaboration with local partners, our school ensures that students are well-prepared to meet the demands of tomorrow's workforce. Dr. Stauffer's article supports the commitment of our school and community to empowering the next generation of skilled workers and leaders. I encourage anyone interested in learning more about these opportunities to reach out to the Berks Career and Technology Center or the Reading/Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center. Together, we are shaping a bright future for our students and our community.

Love this, and knowing Jeri, I'll bet she learned at least 3-4 things that will improve Cengage's offerings. Here at Pragmatic Institute, when we train product managers for other companies, we focus extensively on what we call NIHITO (Nothing Important Happens In The Office). Its a borderline mandate that product managers get out into the market and listen directly to customers for met and unmet needs. That a Chief People Officer is practicing NIHITO speaks to Cengage's customer focus. Way to go!

I spy with my little eye something familiar in this picture- front and center! I love seeing my book, Support and Retain Educators of Color, used in the context of pushing forward institutional change. I wrote this book not as a cute intellectual exercise but a how-to guide for education and organizational leaders to cultivate workplaces that affirm and retain educators of color.
