How does one identify a “needy field” for potential mission work? It’s not a simple task! In fact, I fear that some overly simplistic missiological strategies have become common even among those who are most passionate about Christian missions. The appeal of these strategies lies in their clear-cut formulas, which allow individuals, churches, and organizations to easily categorize areas of the world as “needy” or not. However, their danger lies in the very same simplicity: reducing the complexity of missions to a predetermined list. Two cautions come to mind. Among those impacted were many members of the Jewish American community, who, like all Americans, felt the profound shock and pain of that day. Jewish Americans were not only victims but also first responders, community leaders, and volunteers who helped rebuild in the aftermath. Many were involved in the recovery efforts, including working with interfaith coalitions to foster unity, hope, and healing in a time of uncertainty. 9/11 also ignited broader conversations about faith, identity, and the importance of standing together against hatred and division. Jewish communities across the country became vocal advocates for tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and peace in a world that had been shaken by terror. The future is never promised. In our current economy, most people see physical security as a luxury. In the stark light of reality, the exact opposite is true. The security of your home or business is not the place to cut corners. Life comes to us fast; therefore, we must perceive effective security solutions as an unequivocal need. Securing your home, assets, and loved ones must take precedence over all else.

Today, on National Sorry Day, I reflect on the deep scars left by the Stolen Generations, not as a distant historical event, but as a reality that still echoes through the lives of my family. Growing up in Brewarrina, a place with its own painful history as a mission site, I carry the stories of resilience and heartache that define our community. Just north from Bre is Goodooga, where my mum was hidden under the bed on the floor whenever the police came around their camp because she was fair-skinned. Another relative was rubbed with soot from the fire to darken her complexion, a desperate attempt to keep our family together. This is not a tale from the distant past but a mere generation ago—a lived reality for my family. These acts of survival highlight the lengths our people went to protect their loved ones from a system intent on erasing our identity. The strength and ingenuity shown by my family, and countless others, are testament to the resilience and determination of First Nations people. As a proud First Nations woman, I honor my ancestors' sacrifices and their relentless fight to keep our culture and family bonds intact. Today, we remember the pain and acknowledge the trauma, but we also celebrate the enduring strength and spirit of our people. National Sorry Day is not just a day of reflection but a call to action. We must continue to push for truth-telling and healing, ensuring that the stories of our ancestors are never forgotten. The society admits some boys right from infancy in order to keep grooming them till they are old. The society is exclusive and reserved for the initiates only, who undergo rigorous training, learn rituals, dances and sacred songs. However, it's influence extends beyond the spiritual realm, it also help shape social and political structure in communities.
