Non-profits are organisations that champion the cause of ending various societal, economic, and public health issues through leading from the front. Since structural inequalities are at the heart of every global challenge, non-profits can contribute to addressing these problems by mobilising support and galvanising governmental actions through advocacy, to help tackle these issues and reduce inequalities.

The Healthy Communities Collaborative (HCC) launched Action Teams, a dedicated group of community leaders and change-makers committed to advancing health and well-being across Butte County. ?? The mission of the Healthy Communities Collaborative is to improve the health and well-being of Butte County residents by preventing future mental and physical health disorders. ?? The HCC operates under core principles including Primary Prevention, Equity, Innovation, Data-Informed Decision Making, and Sustainability, which guide all activities and ensure they reflect the collaborative’s mission. ?? Action Teams play a crucial role in Phase Three, executing strategies and coordinating efforts to ensure the successful implementation of health initiatives. ?? Grant Applications Open: The grant program is designed to engage local nonprofit organizations in Butte County to develop and implement initiatives that significantly enhance community health in alignment with HCC’s strategic focus areas: Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, and Connection & Meaning. As the body of Christ, we're entrusted with treasures to share. Recently, I came across an article emphasizing the significance of clinics like CCHC, highlighting the impactful outcomes of faith-based health programs. The consensus is that Faith-based health programs are yielding impactful results! They enhance disease awareness, promote proactive screening, and mitigate health risks effectively. The Bureau of Primary Health Care Faith Partnership Initiative underscores the crucial role of faith communities, especially with 43 million uninsured Americans needing support. With the US hosting more churches per capita than any other country, faith-based initiatives hold immense potential in addressing public health and social justice issues. The study follows up with the importance of non-profit and public sector collaboration. Horizons are proud to support the launch of the The Richmond Group of Charities ‘Millions more moving’ report. Informed by lived experience insights, the report highlights the shifts required that will maximise the potential value of movement in addressing challenges in heath and supporting people with long-term conditions to move more. SHIFT ONE: ensuring leadership and accountability. ? “Tackling inactivity and improving the activity levels of people with long-term conditions requires making movement a national priority.” ? “To enable people with long-term conditions to increase their movement, there needs to be a cross-government approach.” ?”Strategy, accountability and actions to deliver increased movement need to be shared across government and arm’s-length bodies, as it is not the remit of one single organisation or government department or a problem that can be tackled in siloes.” This shift will need to involve health representatives working alongside those with lived experience and with long-term conditions to find solutions that meaningfully meet the aims and improve lives sustainably.
