Watch his speech below. Reflecting on Roger Federer’s commencement address at Dartmouth, i learned 3 things and we can profoundly relate to all 1. Effortlessness is a Myth: This reminder resonates deep. Behind every success, lies immense effort, perseverance, and dedication. Nothing ever comes easy 2. Life is Much Bigger than a Tennis Court: This is reality. Beyond our immediate goals and achievements, life offers a vast landscape of experiences, relationships, and opportunities for growth. It’s important to find meaning beyond our professions. Life doesn’t revolve around jobs 3. Belief in Yourself Has to Be Earned: This hit hard. Self-confidence derives from competence and experience. It’s a reminder that true self-belief comes not from blind faith, but from consistently proving ourselves through action, resilience, and learning from setbacks These principles from Roger Federer remind us to value effort, embrace life’s richness, and cultivate genuine self-confidence through continuous learning. Let’s keep these lessons close, striving not only for achievements but also for a deeper, more meaningful journey of what lies beyond. Legends never retire from inspiring us all. Do share this. https://lnkd.in/gz4D7r6K

"Effortless is a Myth" Yesterday I came across Roger Federer's Inspiring Commencement Speech at Dartmouth College. The tennis legend, delivered a powerful and inspiring speech to the graduating class of 2024 at Dartmouth College. In his address, Federer challenged the idea of effortless achievement, sharing his own experiences of dedication and hard work. The speech resonated with me, highlighting the importance of: Relentless Practice: Federer emphasized that the illusion of effortless play comes from years of unseen training and dedication. Embracing Challenges: He spoke about overcoming self-doubt and learning from losses, a crucial skill for success on and off the court. Defining Your Own Talent: Federer suggested a broader definition of talent, encompassing discipline, patience, and self-belief. This speech is a must-listen for anyone graduating or embarking on a new chapter in life. You can find the full address here or watch it on YouTube. https://lnkd.in/dYAevFvM What was your favorite piece of advice from Roger Federer's speech? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

The best lesson for managing everything in life, detachment is the best way to manage disappointments and also to avoid pride. This is the secret of staying focused and of practising neutrality. Link to full speech - https://lnkd.in/gJHyAcsd
"In the 1526 singles matches I've played in my career, I've won almost 80% of the matches. But points, only 54%; in other words, I've won just barely over half the points I've played" - Roger Federer's brilliant commencement speech at Dartmouth It's the fine margins that forge legends. If you aren't missing every other shot you take, then it's time to push a little closer to the edge (The whole speech is a 25 min masterclass on life - link in the first comment)

" Like most speeches, quite useless. However, his presence is a prize given to those who graduated. Words may still hold some value but unlikely. Value comes from the values that built your body ( genetics) and the values played out everyday in the first 20 years of your life ( #epigenetics). And these 20 years might have been valuable enough to have taught you how to be a #lifelonglearner and made you into a person to pursue #lifelonglearning in everything , everyday and everyone . This speech, will be a strong moment for days or years to come? Very unlikely, because, when you live your life, this speech will not play a part, for that moment , or other moments. However, You will enjoy thinking about it. Again, mostly, because, its part of your graduation. What he said ? You already know. Never thought about it but basic education is useful and you may criticise school but it does a good job in covering everything you need to know. Hence, his words will not hold too many surprises. Thinking - with a broad humanist and #scientificremper ( #Nehru ) - is a requirement - for you to appreciate yourself, others, all things, all matter , mass and non mass. Your rituals and scriptures will not capture the essence of life's #Biology, #Chemistry and #physics. Your humanity will and that is what most scriptures say anyway. Your humanity matters, not points, tennis or Roger Federer's useless profession . Your #values , your neighbour's values and every single entity in all physics chemistry matters. Only #science , #knowledge , #empathy, #learning matters and #understanding matters. " ?? #scientifictemper #scientificmethod #scientificvalues #paleoanthropology #evolutionarypsychology #evolutionarybiology #quantumphysics #systemsbiology #Chemistry #Physiology #Psychiatry #Psychology #genomics #genetics #epigenetics #behavioralscience #behavioralanthropology #behavioralgenetics #computerscience #economics #finance #humanities index of all science ! Matters the most !

Life Lessons from Roger Federer's Commencement Speech Roger Federer's recent commencement speech at Dartmouth College resonated beyond the tennis court. Here are 3 key takeaways that apply to all of us, not just champions: 1. Effortless is a Myth: Federer, known for his seemingly effortless grace, emphasized the relentless dedication and hard work behind every smooth stroke. We often underestimate the tireless effort required for success in any field. 2. It's Only a Point: Tennis teaches the importance of staying present and focused on the immediate challenge. In life, dwelling on setbacks or celebrating victories for too long can hinder progress. Keep your head down and focus on the next point. 3. Life is Bigger Than the Court: Federer reminded graduates that their passions and contributions extend beyond their chosen field. Find your purpose, embrace new experiences, and leave a positive impact on the world. What are your biggest takeaways from inspiring leaders outside your industry? "Effortless is a myth." Fed reminds us that no one achieves greatness on talent alone. You gotta put in the hard yards and grind to truly earn that self-belief. Lean Into Challenges ??♂? Treat them like epic rallies - chances to dig deep, get creative, and level up your resilience. The greatest champions thrive on challenges! ServantLeadership FTW ?? "True leadership is not just being in charge, it's about taking care of those around you." Being a leader isn't about bossing people around. It's using your influence to lift others up and create a winning team culture. Wise words! With insights like these, it's no wonder Fed has won millions of fans worldwide with his class act, both on and off the court. We are in the second week of Wimbledon. I don’t know about you, but I miss the great Roger Federer. His speech at Dartmouth inspired me. I take away these three things ?? **Effortless is a Myth** Not many know that Federer trained in the high heat of Dubai to ensure that when he stepped onto the grass courts of Wimbledon, he would appear effortless. Talent without grit does not travel far. Effortless is a myth. ?? **Attack Strength with Strength** ?? Federer was always super talented, but not lifting the trophies. Then one day he decided to confront his opponents' strengths head-on, outplaying them where they feIt the strongest. And the Roger as we know him now showed up through this courage. We can as well. One small act of courage at a time. ?? **You can work harder then you thought possible and still lose** ?? If your battle was worth fighting, there is an honor to enter it. Win or lose. You nurse your wounds, get up and take on another fight. And you battle just as fiercely. Just like Roger #EffortlessIsAMyth #HardWorkPaysOff #StartupLife #Leadership #Inspiration #RogerFederer #GrowthMindset #AttackStrengthWithStrength #ShowUpToTheBattle #summerfun #tennislessons

One of the best commencement speeches I have seen so far this year: Roger Federer at Dartmouth. Humble, funny and full of wisdom for anyone trying to succeed in life. If you have 20 minutes listen to his entire speech. You won’t regret it. The main take aways from Roger Federer’s commencement speech are: i. Effortless is a myth: Talent matters but talent has a broad definition. Most of the time it’s not about having a gift but having grit. Discipline, trust and patience are talents. Embracing the process is talent. Managing your life is a talent. Developing and working on these abilities is key to success. ii. It’s only a point: The best in the world know they lose again and again and have learned to deal with it. You move on, be relentless, adapt and grow. iii. Life is bigger than the court. Life like tennis is a team sport. Your success depends on your team, your family, your friends, your rivals. These influences shape you in who you are and to become the best version of you. https://lnkd.in/greUAy4E
