Founder @ Assign-AI

4 reasons I almost walked away… and 4 reasons I won’t I’m no exception to the high founder burnout. Reason #1: OpenAI just released the Operator. Ever felt your idea is overshadowed by a giant? Reason #2: The AI space is about to explode. Thousands of new players are jumping in every day. Reason #3: The startup world is tougher than I imagined. Despite all my prep, reality still hit me like a ton of bricks. Reason #4: The pace is insane, 100 MPH and counting. Blink, and you might miss the next big thing. Yes, all valid reasons to throw my hands up. But here’s why I’m not: - If Lucid can thrive with Tesla and other EVs sharing the road, then niche AI players can also carve out their space. - Overcrowding just means I need to focus on building hyper-specific agent tools that big players may overlook. - It’s harder than I thought, but I’m loving the challenge and leveling up daily. - While everyone else rushes features, I’m aiming for quality that stands the test of time. What am I actually building this week? - Making AI “thoughts” visible in our chatbot. - Offering two ways to create an agent: a single prompt or a step-by-step guide for total clarity. - Adding our first AI agent to our library. - Adding the copy, paste, analyze, hover, double-click, scroll AI tools for the chatbot’s version. - Exploring a spreadsheet-friendly workflow for multiple agents, so everything stays in one place. Over the weekend, I realized one of my agents might violate LinkedIn’s automation policy. I definitely don’t want to tread on shaky ground. So I’ll halt the LinkedIn agents for now. Dan Leeman, let’s chat about safe, compliant options. Despite the hurdles, I’m excited to keep building and learning. I’ll keep sharing both wins and failures right here. TAKAWAY There will always be a million reasons to quit. But the ones who succeed pivot, stay honest about the hard stuff, and keep pushing until the next obstacle. Are you facing your own “should I walk away?” moment? You’re not alone… but maybe it’s time to push forward instead.

This sh** is hard, man! Good on you for keeping your head up, and making it work. At every stage, make sure you're revisiting your "Why" and ensuring alignment is still there. The market can take us to places that we didn't intend, and sometimes we take the wrong exit and realize we're lost. So continue to be honest with yourself, make sure the decisions you're making are the ones that YOU want, cause you'll need that energy to continue to find success!

Sam Uhr have you considered verticalization? I know the TAM wouldn't be as "exciting" on paper, but perhaps could help capture more of it? What industries have high-volume automation needs, that often lack easy API access to core applications being used?

Sam Uhr, Winston Churchill once said, Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts ??
