Last week was as exciting as it gets for financing climate action! The EPA selection announcement for $20 billion to green banks marks a monumental step forward in our fight against climate change. These funds will drive crucial investments in green infrastructure, helping us mitigate and adapt to a changing climate. I’m excited to see how these funds can support projects that drive both climate mitigation *AND* adaptation. Extreme weather patterns and sea level rise are going to continue to impact us globally so where possible, I’m hoping to see investments in multi benefit projects adding exponential positive impact to this historic moment ???? #ClimateAction #GreenFinance #EPA #Sustainability

Scotland's Natural Capital Market Framework: A New Endorsement for Private Investment in Nature The Scottish Government’s new Natural Capital Market Framework, released yesterday, signals strong support for the Woodland Carbon Code, Peatland Code, and broader voluntary nature markets. This framework advocates for private investment to accelerate the restoration of Scotland’s iconic landscapes—essential to the nation's identity, economy, and communities. While early in development, the framework highlights key barriers and lays out seven targeted interventions to scale high-integrity investment by 2026 (as seen below). An impactful takeaway: “Despite the UK's comparative ability to supply high-integrity credits, natural capital markets are still viewed as riskier than other markets... investment in Scotland's natural capital markets is likely to mainly come from market pioneers.” The question: Are you ready to be a market pioneer??The time for bold action is now—are you ready to join the innovators building a future for Scotland's natural capital? I’ll admit it – I’m a #ProudlyGRC #Gladvocate. So yes, I’m excited to share Gladstone Regional Council’s Annual Report. But this one’s special. As much as I don’t want to take credit, I did play a key role in pulling it all together – from project planning and coordination to driving collaboration across teams. Halfway through, I transitioned from the Business Partner role to the Specialist role, and my awesome co-worker stepped in to keep everything on track – and did a fantastic job! Annual Reports are important. And they don’t just happen. This isn’t a one-person job – it’s the result of intense collaboration. Therefore, I can't post this without giving a ?????????????? ?????????? ?????? ???? ?????? ???????????????????? in Finance, Brand & Communications, Governance, Strategy & Improvement (my favourite team) and everyone who was tapped on the shoulder to bring this all together. To every employee at Council who played a part in making the report, big ups. And to every employee who worked towards the actual achievements in the report (epic stuff) – thank you and well bloody done! This is a big day -- for us, for our partners, and for the country. Together with our coalition – Habitat for Humanity International, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Rewiring America, and United Way Worldwide – we will use this award to deploy a powerful combination of financing, market building, and community engagement to create healthier, safer, more affordable homes. The National Clean Investment Fund, part of the Inflation Reduction Act, represents one of the most profound public investments in climate resilience in our nation's history. With this award, Enterprise has been entrusted to help turn the nation's most critical climate legislation into transformational housing legislation by ensuring the preservation and creation of affordable, resilient homes nationwide. It is a vision driven by hope, energy, and action, elements that our founder Jim Rouse believed are essential to success. Society, said Jim, "will rise to the big and dramatically good plans—they will yawn at the timid, the cautious, the unconvincing." Enterprise's role on the Power Forward Communities coalition reflects our over 20 years of leadership in green building, climate resilience and equitable decarbonization, along with the strength and reach of our broad coalition. It drives home my belief that to do big things, we must build a bigger tent: to date, over 320 partners have joined the Power Forward Communities coalition and have committed to working with us to decarbonize American homes nationwide. At a time when renters and housing providers are facing skyrocketing costs, our coalition is purpose-built to offer low-interest financial products, technical assistance, training programs, digital resources, and other tools to lower emissions and drive down costs. This effort couldn't be more critical in our work ensuring an affordable home for the millions of Americans without one.

New research by my colleagues Dan Shawhan, Sally Robson, and Ethan Russell at Resources for the Future as well as Ana Varela Varela finds that disadvantaged communities may benefit more from a modest carbon price than targeted policies limiting new polluting power generation facilities in or near overburdened communities. While targeted policies are necessary until more comprehensive solutions are politically viable, this research contributes critical information on how carbon prices may impact underserved and environmentally overburdened communities. https://lnkd.in/gEQKEtxU

This is a great opportunity for two levers that can really propel housing. 1. Job creation for electrification, data collection and data/incentive measurement. There is an important on-site role and a critical data management function. 2. Lower the cost of ownership with green financing. Renovation of aging housing stock is a massive need in most communities. We can renovate with savings included. Well this has to be reposted. UE are very proud of the Blessington WWTP Upgrade but ... The upgrade brings the WWTP to 9,000 pe. The 9,000 pe upgrade was likely a cynical attempt to fast track some development in Blessington without having to deal with the requirements for WWTPs over 10,000pe. The Planning board inspector, during the planning process recommended refusal beyond the already 6,000 pe that was permitted, but was overruled. The current EPA licence D0063-01 states the plant is a 6,000pe facility and the EPA have been unable to grant an increased licence to UE to date, even though the upgrade was completed last year. The proximity to Blessington Lakes and Dublins drinking water supply must be a factor. The upgrade was only to the WWTP. The 5.5km outfall pipe, laid in the 80s has not been designed for the new capacity and hasn't been reassessed. No condition survey has been provided. The outfall itself is into an impounding reservoir, Golden Falls, with no natural flows, the flows being 100% controlled by ESB. Golden Falls is in Kildare yet there was no planning application in Kildare.
