A Look Back at Space Tech Expo Europe It’s been a week since Space Tech Expo Europe, and we’re still reflecting on the great moments and connections made during this event. One of the key highlights was the signing ceremony between DSI Aerospace and Frontgrade Technologies, marking a new chapter in our collaboration. This agreement solidifies our partnership to develop and distribute the SpaceStor? 2TB Mass Memory Unit. The signing ceremony, held in the presence of Bremen’s Mayor Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, Senator Kristina Vogt, and Dr. Walther Pelzer from the German Space Agency at Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V., underscored the importance of international cooperation in advancing space technology. Further we enjoyed the conversations with everyone, visiting our booth and are already missing this great space community! ?? Visit of a Scottish Space Delegation at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen ?? ? Around 30 Scottish companies and organizations took part in the trade fair Space Tech Expo Europe. To introduce the Scottish delegation in the space activities in Bremen, WFB Wirtschaftsf?rderung Bremen GmbH and Scottish Development International organized a Scottish space visiting programme for the last day of the trade fair on November 21. After the delegation visited Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. and ZARM, a tour at Fraunhofer IFAM followed. ? First, the activities in the Aviation & Space division at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen and Stade were presented and demonstrators of a functionally integrated wing leading edge and a barrier-coated H2 tank were shown. During the subsequent tour, the cryogenic testing technology, the laser technology center with the topic of vacuum suction blasting and the paint technology center were presented. ? According to AVIASPACE Bremen e.V., the Scottish space sector is developing rapidly. Scotland is pursuing the goal of building a complete space ecosystem and is relying on its extensive capabilities with numerous talents, production, research and development expertise, launch services and data analysis. Since 2016, the Scottish space market has seen outstanding growth, averaging over 10% per annum. ? Meaningful conversations and exciting partnerships formed at Booth L41, where Dutch expertise in space innovation shone brightly. But that’s not all… ?? We’re proud to announce that VDL Enabling Technologies Group (ETG), FSO Instruments and partners are joining forces to develop, build, and launch PAMI-1, a state-of-the-art satellite for the Ministerie van Defensie. PAMI-1 will enhance autonomous intelligence gathering from space with advanced sensors and cameras, supporting secure data collection for the Netherlands. Our CEO, Eva Berneke, joined fellow space industry leaders for a lively panel debate at the Paris Air Forum yesterday ?? Alongside Stéphane Isra?l of ARIANESPACE; Herve DERREY of Thales Alenia Space; and Philippe Baptiste of the Centre National d'études Spatiales, the discussion centered on how Europe can hold its own amid an increasingly competitive global space landscape. Eva notably urged Europe to transition from an ‘haute couture’ model to a more industrialized approach, warning that failing to make this leap could leave Europe lagging behind more integrated players. The panel concluded that Europe's success hinges on a more unified, coordinated approach between different players in the supply chain. State-funding for technological innovation, enhanced cost control and closely listening to and addressing customer needs will also be key enablers of Europe’s success as the space market continues to grow.

I am truly looking forwards to this panel discussion next week at the #European_Space_Conference. In the topic of "Infrastructure, operations and launchers for agile, sustainable and competitive launch services" lie som very fundamental questions. How are we going to stimulate development of new, reusable and cutting edge launchers, and at the same time draw on the heritage and investments in European launchers over several decades? To succeed in establishing a competitive and autonomous European launch service environment, we must dare to challenge both the current industrial setup, governance and certain national priorities.
