Happy Fourth of July! ???? While celebrating our nation's independence, let's also celebrate our health and well-being! Here are some naturopathic tips to enjoy a healthy and balanced holiday: ?? Stay Hydrated: Drink at least half your body weight in ounces (150 lbs= 75 oz) throughout the day, especially if you're out in the sun. Consider adding a squeeze of lemon for an extra detox boost! ???? ??Healthy Grilled Choices: Opt for grilled veggies, and lean proteins, and best to go with a gluten-free bun (choose a brand with minimal ingredients), or protein style, on two large pieces of lettuce. Include some fresh, colorful salads to balance out your plate. ??Sun and Vitamin D: The sun is a fantastic source for Vitamin D, a building block of hormone & cholesterol, helps with mood and protects against inflammation. Next week sees the start of our next Healthy and Happy Hormones 10 week programme. After completing the 10 weeks we always ask for feedback and a testimonial from each participant. Maggie and I couldn't of been more thrilled to have received this feedback (this is genuine and I have shared is exactly as it was sent to me.) "I learned so much from taking part – the amount of information that Maggie and Lesley shared was amazing. I thought I more or less knew how to eat well, but I did learn a lot more, in particular what our bodies need at this stage of life. It’s great having it all stored together on the Facebook group, as I often went back to read things at a later time, and plan to look through things again in future. It was also good having the workouts to work through. I liked the group being online, as I was able to join even when I was away, and also do catchup for the ones I missed. "There was real value in doing the programme as a group – I learned from others’ questions and discussions, and there was a sense of support as we all tried to make changes. I enjoyed doing the detox and found it easier than I expected. "I lost 1kg a week during this period, so lost 7kg in the 10 week programme, which had been one of the things I’d hoped would happen through the course. I also noticed the change in my energy levels and sleep as I adjusted my lifestyle, diet and exercise. It did take time and effort to make changes, and I really appreciated the coaching calls with Maggie to think about how to make space in life for my health." (Andrea, 48yrs) We could not be more pleased with the results that our participants are getting in the 10 weeks but also how they are continuing with their new formed habits after.
