The fleet comprises submarines, surface ships, amphibious ships, and auxiliaries, including two aircraft carriers, with two under construction and plans for four to six total. Capabilities include anti-ship ballistic missiles, anti-submarine warfare, mine countermeasures, and electronic warfare. With main bases in Qingdao, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and an overseas base in Djibouti, the PLA Navy conducts maritime patrols, exercises, humanitarian assistance, and counter-piracy operations. China’s Naval Transformation: Over the past three decades, China’s navy has indeed undergone remarkable growth and modernization. It has transitioned from a coastal defense force to a more global and capable maritime power. China’s naval expansion extends beyond its near-seas region, with operations in the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean, and even Europe. By 2025, China’s naval battle force is projected to include 395 ships, and by 2030, this number could reach 435 ships. Notably, this count excludes approximately 60 HOUBEI-class patrol combatants armed with anti-ship cruise missiles. In comparison, the U.S. Navy currently operates 292 battle force ships, with a projected reduction to 290 by the end of FY2030. Objectives of China’s Naval Modernization: Taiwan Situation: China seeks to be prepared for potential military action related to Taiwan. The Taiwan Strait remains a sensitive flashpoint. Territorial Claims: Asserting and defending territorial claims in the South China Sea (SCS

Pakistan’s successful test of its indigenously developed Ship Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) marks a strategic leap in naval modernization, emphasizing precision to enhance maritime security and deterrence. With a range of 350 kilometers and the ability to strike land and sea targets, this missile demonstrates Pakistan’s focus on cost-effective defense. In stark contrast to India’s $72.6 billion defense budget—of which $13 billion goes to the Navy—Pakistan operates with a leaner $7.64 billion budget, allocating $821.9 million to its naval forces. This approach highlights Pakistan’s commitment to efficiency, leveraging advanced precision-guided systems as a credible deterrent without escalating to an arms race. By prioritizing precision and agility over fleet size, Pakistan strengthens its defense posture in a way that is both strategic and sustainable https://lnkd.in/eK8k6p99

Naval drills help China, Russia jointly address threats — Chinese Defense Ministry The Maritime Interaction-2024 exercise, which took place in July, strengthened professional exchanges, mutual understanding and trust between the Chinese and Russian navies, the ministry said BEIJING, July 18/ The joint naval exercises of China and Russia constantly increase their ability to address security challenges together, the Chinese Defense Ministry said in a statement. "The Maritime Interaction drills have become a major platform for cooperation between the two navies as they constantly enhance both parties’ ability to jointly address security threats and challenges," the statement reads. The Maritime Interaction-2024 exercise, which took place in July, strengthened professional exchanges, mutual understanding and trust between the Chinese and Russian navies, "promoting practical cooperation in a standardized and systematic manner," the Chinese Defense Ministry noted. Russia’s Pacific Fleet said earlier that Russian and Chinese naval ships had wrapped up the Maritime Interaction-2024 joint drills in the South China Sea. The two countries practiced anti-submarine operations, naval warfare and escort missions, as well as ways to provide air defense to a detachment of ships and carry out search and rescue operations at sea. About 30 combat exercises were performed during the drills, including joint artillery fire at air, sea and coastal targets. The Russian Navy and the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy held their first joint drills in the Yellow Sea in 2005. Since 2012, the exercises have been taking place on a regular basis in various regions. #business #finance #financialservices

Turkey is beefing up its navy in a push to project power abroad and build up the domestic defense industry. It's building domestically made frigates, submarines, destroyers and even an aircraft carrier. This is part of Ankara's "Blue Homeland" doctrine, under which it seeks to assert greater control of the waters around Turkey – and the energy resources they might contain. All that new kit means that Turkey is spending more on defense than ever before. But it's also exporting its homegrown products around the world, with naval systems on order everywhere from Pakistan to Portugal. That brings in welcome cash, and perhaps more importantly, independence from foreign suppliers. https://lnkd.in/dU_5pjag

Philippines To Reopen Subic Bay Airfield The Philippine Air Force will create a new base on the site of a former American naval air station at Subic Bay to increase its aerial surveillance and power projection capabilities in the South China Sea according to the Naval News publication. Joshua Bernard Espe?a, vice president at the Manila-based think tank International Development and Security Cooperation, told Naval News that this new base at Subic Bay is a “significant leap”in the Philippine military’s efforts to develop joint operations. “It also tells about the operationalization of the Philippines’ Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC) with the logic of filling the gaps of defending a vast archipelago; the key is a rapid and coordinated response, hence Subic being the classic location for the FOB,” said Espe?a. The Armed Forces of the Philippines has identified Subic Bay International Airport as a staging point for “Joint Air-Sea-Land Operations” under its strategic basing plan, which aims to identify points across the country’s vast archipelago to support and project forces beyond territorial waters and into Manila’s exclusive economic zone. #geopolitics #internationalrelations #philippines #southasia

6 个月Better let someone publish your stuff who really knows what he is writing about, because what you post here that main (PLA-Navy) bases are, quote you, “in ….Shanghai and Guangzhou”, is plain incorrect …while Shanghai and Guangzhou only host minor navy bases there are many more similarly less important secondary PLA-Navy bases that you have not mentioned such as Dalian, etc. All unfortunately betraying your lack of basic expertise in these matters. Now FYI , here the real main navy bases that you have missed in : Ningbo (Zhejiang Province, HQ or the East Sea Fleet 宁波市东海舰队司令部) Zhanjiang (Guangdong Province, HQ of the South Sea Fleet 湛江市南海舰队司令部)
