Earlier this year, NCVO published research on the true costs of public services, all about how government grants and contracts don't fully pay for charities' vital services, and what a risk this is for communities. This is an issue I am hugely passionate about, and it's now become all too real for Body & Soul Charity, where I've been a regular volunteer since 2018.? ? Body & Soul is a multi-award-winning charity, transforming the life-threatening effects of trauma and childhood adversity in people of all ages across the nation. They offer evidence-based, holistic support that goes beyond immediate intervention. Their services help address the root causes of crises and trauma, helping people to not just cope, but rebuild their lives. ? Body & Soul provides support to multiple disadvantaged communities who have experienced complex trauma. Whether someone has been neglected or abused, stigmatised because of HIV or attempted suicide - they've helped liberate thousands of people from the trauma that controls them. Right now, they are at a tipping point. Without urgent funding, many people in need will slip through the cracks. ? So, will you be part of my Two Fifty Club and help me raise £250 towards keeping Body & Soul's life-saving, life-enriching services open for many years to come? ? https://lnkd.in/eSZ8A5X2

Alcohol abuse has far-reaching effects that extend beyond the individual struggling with addiction. Families and friends often bear the brunt of emotional, psychological, and financial burdens. Relationships can become strained due to the addict’s unpredictable behaviour, leading to trust issues and communication breakdowns. Children, in particular, may suffer from neglect or emotional trauma, affecting their development and well-being. Additionally, friends and family members might experience stress, anxiety, and depression as they navigate the complexities of supporting their loved one while managing their own lives. If you have a loved one, family member or friend who’s addicted to alcohol and you are impacted by their issues, you can find help and support with Adfam?? ?? https://lnkd.in/emEHMVWj #YMCA #YMCATogether #NorthWestCharity #Charity #AlcoholChangeUK #AlcoholAwarenessWeek #RiseAndRaise #AlcoholAwareness

Dear Supporters, I hope this letter finds you well. As we continue our journey to raise funds for substance use disorders, I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity you’ve shown. Your unwavering support means more to me than words can express. Michael Piper, my beloved son, left us too soon due to this devastating illness. His memory fuels my determination to make a difference—to prevent other families from experiencing the same pain. Together, we are creating a legacy of hope and healing. Every dollar you contribute, every encouraging message you send, brings us closer to our goal. Your compassion is a beacon of light in the darkness of addiction. With your help, we can provide resources, education, and support to those battling substance use disorders. Your Impact Matters: Treatment Access: Your donations directly fund treatment programs, ensuring that individuals receive the care they desperately need. Community Outreach: We’re organizing awareness campaigns, workshops, and support groups. Your support amplifies our reach. Research and Advocacy: By raising funds, we advocate for policy changes and invest in research to combat addiction. Michael’s Legacy Lives On: He was a bright soul, full of laughter and dreams. Although his battle was fierce, he never lost his compassion for others. In his memory, we strive to be the voice for those who struggle silently. Thank You, from the Depths of My Heart: Your belief in our cause keeps me going. Whether you’ve donated, volunteered, or simply shared our mission, please know that you are making a profound impact. Every little bit you can give can change someone’s life. But if you can’t donate, here are some simple things you can do that can really make a difference this FASD Awareness Month: ??Snap a quick picture of you wearing red shoes and share it with your followers. Help spread awareness about fetal alcohol spectrum disorder! ??It boggles our minds how few people know about FASD compared to other disabilities like autism. Especially considering FASD is an estimated 2.5 times more prevalent! Help spread the word by talking to your friends and family. The more people that know, the more knowledge and support will grow! ??We need to see action on FASD happening at a federal level. Contact your local member of parliament and ask them to publicly support Bill S-253, which is currently under consideration in committee. ??CanFASD Research Network is a not-for-profit and registered charity in Canada. ??FASD is so complex, and best practices surrounding support, diagnosis, and prevention are always changing. Take some time to learn more about FASD by reading the latest research or taking an online course: https://buff.ly/3XxNDxQ #EveryonePlaysAPart #FASDMonth2024 #FASDAwarenessMonth #RedShoesRock
