Our US sales team recently joined forces with our CEO and visited some customers in the US eastern states. As most of us are based in Austin or DFW, we do enjoy seeing the different regions during the fall. We enjoy the different regional fall colors. During one of our visits, we got into a great discussion about a standard WFI offering, versus a development effort. We've come to find there are many gaps left in fabs with legacy equipment. The preference is to have a pre-existing support system for every major tool family, with a parts repair for every part sub-model. In some cases, these support systems just don't exist. In those cases, it is development effort, involving setting up "similar" repair loops, and going through an equipment baseline with new tool families. There so many variables that come into play when discussing contracts between companies. In my opinion, I would not want a contract with too many specifics. I would request that we sell/purchase the product at a discounted price. The level of specifics in a contract can make or break the relationship between a company.
