Microsoft has deep ties to the #fossilfuel industry, supporting technologies that lead to vast increases in global emissions – orders of magnitude more than the emissions from the datacenters that power them – putting both the planet and the company’s long-term value at risk. ? That’s why we’ve filed a shareholder resolution with As You Sow asking the company to disclose the operational, reputational, and financial risks associated with these activities. ? #Transparency is a critical first step toward change. I voted! Thank you for bringing this important issue all the way to the board of the company. If giving fossil fuel companies advanced technology like AI to help them dramatically increase extraction is what corporate sustainability leadership looks like, then we are way off the mark. It's time to align business activities with the climate science.

3 个月Holly Alpine (née Beale) Super interesting! Quick question, is lack of transparency in terms of sustainable data for AI a big concern among the Big Tech companies like Microsoft? I've read reports about the sustainability initiatives, while they are great from the Big Tech side of things, they are not apparently fully transparent with how much carbon their models emit?
