Today is arXiv's first #GivingTuesday! The first Tuesday after Thanksgiving is a time where we are asked to reflect on all we have accomplished in the past year as we move more fully into the holiday season, as well as express gratitude for those who helped us along the way. arXiv is so grateful to be a part of such a generous community that has helped us grow since our founding in 1991. arXiv now hosts over 2.5 million scientific articles, and our small team handles, on average, more than 18,000 submissions a month (with many months topping out at over 20,000 submissions!) At arXiv, we take our role as an pioneer and advocate of #openscience seriously. When we talk to researchers across the globe, some of whom tell us arXiv was one of their only ways to access the science they needed to do their work or complete their studies, we believe even more firmly that free and open access to scientific research is more important than ever. This #GivingTuesday, donate today to support arXiv's mission of keeping access to science open and free for all. Give here: https://lnkd.in/eQ4cF7Fa

This disparity makes it challenging for researchers to explore innovative solutions. However, your donations play a crucial role in bridging this gap. By contributing, you significantly improve the likelihood of breakthroughs in medical research, not only for disorders like ML. Recently, I shared news of our first #Kleefstrasyndrome gathering in Germany, and now we’re already preparing for the next big milestone: ?? a scientific congress in 2025 in Spain ?? ?????? ???? ???? ?????? ???????? ????????????? It’s simple: Imagine having a child with a barely researched syndrome. For parents, that means many questions and few answers, because research is still in its infancy. I believe in taking action over waiting – or as we say in Germany: Machen, nicht meckern! If we as parents don’t push for progress, who will? A congress like this is costly, which is why I’m supporting the Asociación Kleefstra Espa?a in their fundraising efforts. I do my best – and with your help, we can create a brighter, more hopeful future for our children. Link to our fundraiser page and more details in the first comment. #thankyou #Kleefstrasyndrome #research #rarediseases

The comprehensive and informative Johns Hopkins University webinar featuring a panel of true national experts rose above the misinformation, bad data, and unsupported sensationalism that has marked much of the policy discussion the past four years. It provided a refreshing dose of reality, expert peer-reviewed science, and a roadmap for consensus around one set of facts. The November 19th Zoom event, Organ Procurement in the U.S: Navigating Challenges & Shaping the Future, is now viewable on YouTube. Here’s SID&T’s summary of the proceedings: https://lnkd.in/eYUikwyu Coordination between OPO's and transplant centers saves lives. Science in Donation and Transplant is fighting against the privatization of the organ donation system. #scienceindonationandtransplant #sidandt #patientsfirst #equityindonations #protectopos #oposwork #donatelife

?? World Organ Donation Day: The Power to Save a Life ?? *After being away from LinkedIn for a few months, I felt today was the perfect time to return and talk about something incredibly important to me—organ donation. *As a biomedical engineer studying microengineering, I spend my days thinking about the future of medical technology. But no matter how advanced our tools become, there's one thing that will always be priceless: the gift of life through organ donation. *Right now, thousands of people are waiting for an organ that could save their life. It's a powerful reminder of how much we can impact someone’s world, even without ever meeting them. A single donor can change the lives of up to 8 people—that’s 8 families, 8 futures, and countless moments that might not happen otherwise. *I recently reflected on how simple yet profound the decision to become a donor can be. If you haven’t thought about it before, maybe today could be that moment. Together, we can close the gap and give more people a second chance. Let’s keep inspiring each other, one small act of kindness at a time. #OrganDonation #SaveLives #GiveHope #BiomedicalEngineering #Microengineering #BackOnLinkedin
