Today is arXiv's first #GivingTuesday! The first Tuesday after Thanksgiving is a time where we are asked to reflect on all we have accomplished in the past year as we move more fully into the holiday season, as well as express gratitude for those who helped us along the way. arXiv is so grateful to be a part of such a generous community that has helped us grow since our founding in 1991. arXiv now hosts over 2.5 million scientific articles, and our small team handles, on average, more than 18,000 submissions a month (with many months topping out at over 20,000 submissions!) At arXiv, we take our role as an pioneer and advocate of #openscience seriously. When we talk to researchers across the globe, some of whom tell us arXiv was one of their only ways to access the science they needed to do their work or complete their studies, we believe even more firmly that free and open access to scientific research is more important than ever.
