It’s National Indigenous History month and Pride Month! It’s that time of year when performative allies come out in crowds doing the “totally authentic” displays of allyship. ??The instant expert: just read a Wikipedia article on Indigenous peoples and now knows everything about Indigenous Peoples ??The fashion statement: rocks a dreamcatcher necklace or rainbow t-shirt and calls it “solidarity”. ??The social media warrior: Posts themselves at an event and can’t remember what they learned from the event. ??The over enthusiastic emoji user: uses every nature or rainbow emoji to show support. My dear budding allies, please remember to: ??listen more than you talk. ??learn from Indigenous and Queer community voices. ??Support Indigenous-led and LGBTQIA2S+ initiatives. ??Advocate for genuine change. Remember, being an ally is a lifelong commitment, not a monthly trend. Let’s dig deeper in understanding our true history and learnings. #IndigenousHistoryMonth #PrideMonth #RealAllyship

Today we share some queer wisdom. What is that? It is wisdom that accepts people for who they are, inclusive, affirming, celebrates diversity, and loves above all else. That is what Jesus modeled and taught – and it’s so different from what the non-affirming, rules-based church teaches. We share 15 things queer culture teaches that straight culture doesn’t! This is going to be so much fun! https://lnkd.in/gCVEm8wW

Pride Month 2024. Symbolic events have so often been co-opted and capitalised that somewhere we forget the reason for their existence in the first place. Pride month is rooted in resistance, protest and activism. Ask yourself, how many queer/trans people of colour do you see in leadership roles and positions of power. How many of those come from the global south, lower socio-economic classes, and are from ethno-linguistic and caste minority communities. This pride month, disengage with companies profiting off of performative ‘rainbow coloured profiles’ and engage with queer/trans voices, artists and activists. Take a moment to learn about cross movement solidarity and the need to support movements of resistance around the world. Begin your allyship by centering queer/trans lived experiences in your workspaces?over the next four weeks and by ensuring inclusivity is intersectional and not transactional moving forward. Till then I leave you with a quote from one of favourite authors, the black lesbian feminist activist Audre Lorde- “There is no thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives.” #pridemonth2024 #queerrights #transrights #intersectionality

As we commemorate Pride Month and Juneteenth, I am reminded of the ongoing journey towards equality, freedom, and dignity for everyone. Pride Month is a time to honor the LGBTQIA+ community’s resilience and the strides made towards achieving equal rights. It’s a celebration of love, identity, and the courage to be oneself in the face of adversity. Juneteenth, marks a pivotal moment in American history—the end of slavery. It’s a day to reflect on the struggles for racial equality and to recommit to building a future where everyone can thrive without discrimination. Both Pride Month and Juneteenth embody the spirit of liberation and the importance of standing up for what is right. They raise our level of awarness about the importance of LGBTQIA+ rights and the historical significance of Juneteenth. They remind us to be vigilant and proactive in recognizing the value of every individual. On my team, we have a saying - "Do the right thing" ...and doing the right thing means standing up for human rights, advocating for social justice, and ensuring our daily practices align with these values. To the African-American, Black, Native and Indigenous people in my life - know that you are seen, celebrated, and affirmed for simply existing. Your contributions to society are absolutely necessary. Equality is the minimum and equity is on the horizon. Stand fast in your value, in your dignity, and in the greatness that you are. To the LGBTQIA+ folks in my life - let's celebrate this month! Celebrate our visibility and acceptance, knowing that visibility in and of itself is a privilege. To my LinkedIn connections - let’s continue to do the right thing. To build cultures that celebrate diversity, champions freedom, and strives for a better future for everyone. Remember, if you truly believe in something, you can – and will – affect the outcome. #PrideMonth #Juneteenth #ISMs #Culture #ImpactTheOutcome

Happy Juneteenth! ?? Today, we celebrate the liberation of Black people in America, recognizing the immense struggle and triumph that this day symbolizes. As we reflect on this historic milestone, it's crucial to remember that Queer and trans liberation is inseparable from Black liberation. ??? As a nurse, I see firsthand how the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality impact health outcomes. Our healthcare system still grapples with systemic racism that affects the quality of care our Black and Queer communities receive. It's not enough to just acknowledge this – we must actively work towards change, advocating for equality and justice within our profession. ?Let's celebrate Juneteenth by?: ?? Educating ourselves and our peers about the unique challenges faced by Black and Queer individuals. ?? Advocating for policies that promote equitable healthcare access and outcomes. ??Holding ourselves and each other accountable to create a more inclusive and supportive environment. #Juneteenth #BlackLiberation #QueerLiberation #TransLiberation #HealthcareEquity #NursesForChange #Pridemonth #Pride

June is a powerful month, marked by varied?significant celebrations: Juneteenth, commemorating when?the news of the end of slavery reached the remaining?enslaved Black people in the US, and Pride Month, honoring the LGBTQIA+ fight for equality. At CHALICE Premium, these celebrations are deeply intertwined. We celebrate the spirit of these moments – the resilience of Black Americans and the fight for LGBTQIA+ equality – not just in June, but throughout the year. Intersectionality, a framework developed by Black feminist scholars like Patricia Hill Collins, reminds us that social identities like race, gender, and sexual orientation overlap. Black LGBTQIA+ individuals face unique challenges navigating a world with prejudice based on both race and sexual orientation. The iconic rainbow Pride flag, while powerful, doesn't fully encompass this complexity. #Juneteenth #PrideMonth #BlackPride #CHALICEPremium #Intersectionality #CelebrateDiversity
