The 35th Annual Waterman's Gala was a tremendous success, marking yet another milestone in the ongoing efforts to unite the surf industry in the fight for ocean preservation. Since its founding in 1989, the Surf Industry Members Association (SIMA) has been dedicated to fostering the growth and unity of surf companies and the broader surfing community. This year's event continued that legacy, celebrating our shared passion for the ocean and raising vital funds for its protection. Executive Director Vipe Desai said it best: "Surfing is having a moment, all of us hold the responsibility to turn this moment into a movement. Onward and upward, together!" This year’s Waterman's Gala exemplified the surf community’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection and the spirit of camaraderie that has made this event so special. This year’s honorees included Nathan Florence, Waterperson of the Year, Gordon Merchant with a Lifetime Achievement Award and Vince Scandone as Environmentalist of the Year. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees and supporters, the SIMA Environmental Fund has now raised more than $10 million through the Waterman’s Gala, SIMA Industry Luau and the #SurfCleanOceans campaign. These funds will continue to support organizations that work tirelessly to protect our oceans, beaches, and waves. As our oceans face increasing threats, this collective effort is more important than ever. #surfindustry
