Freelance isn’t free, and it shouldn’t be cheap. Behind every great design, campaign, or solution is someone’s experience, commitment, and passion. In 2025, let's start appreciating creative work for what it’s worth.
This is such an interesting post Michael Maloney. When I read this it makes me think of the VALUE businesses provide to their clients, more than anything. To me there is a big difference between things that are cheap and inexpensive, and it boils down to the quality of service relative to the price that was charged. If a company provides a quality product or service and charges a fair price, then there is value there and that should be respected, as you point out. Only when a business OVER-charges for marginal or inferior service should they be deemed expensive. On the other hand, if they provide an inferior product at a low price, then they could be considered cheap. Just my two cents, but love the post!
Michael Maloney I heard something great the other day, something along the lines of "when you hire a freelancer, you aren't paying them for the hours it takes them to do the task, you're paying for the years it took them to acquire those skills"
