For the past five years, Arrow Exterminators has been proud to partner with the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program to host an annual coat drive for homeless veterans. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we’ve collected over 17,000 coats to date. On distribution day, Veteran Service Organizations from Georgia and neighboring states come together to ensure these coats reach veterans in need across their communities. These coats are distributed almost as quickly as they are sorted! Last year, we were thrilled to collect nearly 7,000 coats, and this year, we’re aiming even higher with a goal of 9,000+. With your support, we’re confident we can make an even greater impact this year!

The students carrying the casket have never met the man inside. They just know him as a homeless veteran in need. They just know he was important. The University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy created a pallbearer program for their junior and senior students. Participants in the program serve as pallbearers at the funerals of homeless veterans whose bodies were not claimed by family. ^* shared from Mike Ellis.

??Veterans experiencing homelessness have increased 50% since 2009. At LVS, we believe two words should never be used together: "homeless" and "Veteran". There is not a one size fits all approach when working with homeless Veterans, and we have created a proven model that restores life, hope & dignity. ??Our primary objective is to work with a Veteran to develop a plan that results in affordable permanent housing. You can make a difference in the lives of the Veterans we serve. ??Learn more about our mission at https://www.lvsrva.org.

For this #WarriorWednesday, I want to highlight a mission that’s close to my heart: Mighty Hero Homes, Inc.. Their mission is simple but powerful—to eradicate veteran homelessness in the U.S. by providing affordable, permanent homes for veterans who’ve sacrificed so much for our freedom. Drew Walston JoAnne (Jo) Bass Derek Layne What We Do: We build safe, supportive communities, known as Mighty Hero Home Bases, where veterans not only find a home but also have access to a full array of on-Base amenities and wraparound services. The goal is clear: take our heroes from "Homeless to Home Ownership." Every Base is designed to restore dignity, hope, and provide a path forward. Why We Do It: Because They Deserve Better. Those four words drive everything we do. Veterans gave their all for us, and we believe they deserve more than just temporary shelters—they deserve a home, a future, and a place in the community. It's about creating measurable generational change. When we rally together with relentless purpose, what seems impossible becomes achievable. That’s the power of the Mighty Hero Homes family. What We’re Fighting For: It’s about more than just providing homes—it’s about transforming lives. By helping veterans regain stability, we’re creating thriving communities where our heroes can contribute, grow, and continue to serve in a new way. The Mighty Hero Home Bases we establish across the country will help ensure that future generations inherit a legacy of hope, strength, and opportunity. This isn’t just a housing project—it’s a movement to make sure no veteran is left behind. I stand with Mighty Hero Homes because I believe in their vision to make veteran homelessness a thing of the past. It’s time we turn our gratitude into action. Want to Help? If you'd like to support this life-changing mission, you can make a difference by donating here: https://lnkd.in/gpDVMMrY Every contribution brings us one step closer to giving veterans the homes and hope they deserve. #Veterans #TheyDeserveBetter #MightyHeroHomes #EndVeteranHomelessness #WarriorWednesday #SupportOurHeroes Learn more about how you can help: https://lnkd.in/ehbwgxAW

In widowhood, there are three categories of support: military, civilian, and international. After researching all U.S. nonprofits serving widows on Candid and GuideStar, it's evident that there is a hierarchy when it comes to where the money travels. + Military widows, who make up the smallest percentage of U.S. widows, receive the most resources. + International widows, spread across many different countries, also receive U.S. support. + Unfortunately, civilian widows, who make up the largest percentage of U.S. #widows, receive the least amount of funding despite needing the most resources. These are the myths vs. realities of widow support and advocacy. It's clear that until this funding gap is addressed by foundations and funders, the divide between widows and support will remain significant. Let's work together to ensure that all widows, regardless of their category, receive the resources they need during this difficult time. Modern Widows Club operates on a foundation of evidence-based programs and services that have demonstrated significant and successful outcomes, leading to meaningful social impact. These initiatives are specially designed to cater to the needs of widows, offering support that is not only effective but also cost-efficient. Through these programs, Modern Widows Club is able to extend its reach to a greater number of women, ensuring that each individual receives the highest quality of support and assistance. When compared to other causes focused on women, such as efforts to serve survivors of #domesticviolence and #humantrafficking, Modern Widows Club's approach stands out for its lower operational costs and higher program efficacy. This strategic focus ensures that resources are utilized in the most impactful way, thereby maximizing the positive change it brings to the lives of widows and, by extension, the broader community. In fact, the global neglect of widow survivors make them more susceptible to domestic violence in new relationships and their daughters, a high target vulnerable for human trafficking. All symptoms of not caring for widows well. One million dollars spent on #widowsupport impacts 1000x more women and their families than any other female cause, because widow support is the largest women's cause worldwide with 300 million widows caring for 600 million fatherless children. #WidowSupport #NonprofitFunding #MilitaryWidows #InternationalWidows #CivilianWidows #modernwidowsclub #womenshealth #facts #compassion #impact
