What can businesses learn from an architect in Washington DC? After wrapping up a few meetings in D.C. and with some time to spare before catching my train back to NYC, I found myself drawn to the museum designed by the brilliant architect, Sir David Adjaye, who reshaped how we see urban spaces. “The goal is not to simply reflect the world, but to challenge it by looking at the familiar and seeing the opportunity for something new.” It struck me how fitting this is, not just for architecture, but for all creative work. Too often, we mirror what’s already there, assuming that’s what’s required. But real innovation, real zig zag thinking, comes from looking beyond the surface of the familiar. It’s not just about incremental changes but pushing the boundaries to find new meaning in what we think we already know.
