Optimism on the Rise! Confidence in the national economy has surged, with 65% of executives feeling optimistic this year, up from 31% in 2024. While global economic confidence is more cautious at 29%, nearly half (46%) plan to expand into new geographies. Recession fears have eased significantly, with 71% not expecting a recession in 2025, though inflation remains a concern. Businesses are bullish about 2025, with 74% expecting revenue growth, 65% anticipating higher profits, and 51% planning to increase headcount. Exciting times ahead!

The results from our 14th annual Business Leaders Outlook survey are in: Middle market companies are ringing in the New Year with a renewed sense of optimism and ambitious growth plans. They’re expecting a jump in revenue in 2025 and planning multiple paths to growth, including introducing new products and services, weighing strategic partnerships/investments and expanding into new markets. These businesses are a critical engine for job creation, product and service development and distribution, and innovation that moves society forward. The new year is looking up! Middle market leaders report strongest optimism levels since 2019, as recession concerns fade and growth outlooks improve.

Today we released the findings from our 2025 Business Leaders Outlook report, exploring the sentiment of and unique opportunities and challenges facing middle market companies. Leaders nationwide expressed increased economic confidence, fueling ambitious growth plans including entering new domestic and international markets to hiring new staff and launching new products. I’m excited to share the results from our annual JPMorgan Chase Business Leaders Outlook survey, which provides insights on our clients’ and prospects’ challenges, opportunities and plans to seek growth in 2025. There is good news in the report. Executives' confidence in the economy more than doubled, from 31% of middle market executives say they were optimistic in 2024 to 65% this year.
