Etienne, who oversees the mechanical integration of the launcher, gives us an overview of the launch campaign from his workplace at Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. The new #MobileGantry not only gives engineers better access to the launcher, allowing them to make adjustments without having to take the rocket back to the assembly building, but is also a marvel of engineering itself. This towering 90-metre, nine-storey structure is one of the largest and heaviest mobile structures in the world, weighing more than 8,200 tonnes – over a thousand tonnes heavier than the Eiffel Tower in France.
