In October, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services approved waivers allowing clinics, homes, and sacred sites in Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Oregon to offer traditional healing practices. These waivers empower facilities to provide culturally appropriate care tailored to the unique needs of the communities they serve, ultimately improving health outcomes for tribal citizens. At ARDX, we stand with initiatives like these that prioritize health equity and respect diverse cultural traditions. By addressing the Social Determinants of Health and expanding access to meaningful, community-centered care, we can collectively create a healthier future. www.ardx.net #HealthEquity #CulturallyAppropriateCare #CMS #HealthcareInnovation #ARDX #SDOH

Over the next ten years, AIR will support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Innovation Center to improve both care quality and #health outcomes for Medicare and Medicaid recipients experiencing #MentalHealth conditions or substance use disorders. Through a new contract, we will help implement the Innovation in #BehavioralHealth Model, which focuses on integrated, coordinated and whole-person care. This model addresses not only patients' behavioral and physical health, but also health-related social needs like access to housing, food, and transportation. https://lnkd.in/g58wdpYy

Rural and Tribal health advocates, assemble! The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Innovation Center just announced that it will be holding its 2024 Rural Heath Hackathon in August with in-person events in Montana, North Carolina, and Texas. The goal of this event is "to generate new ideas to address some of the top challenges impacting health care in rural health settings and drive action to improve clinical outcomes, increase access, and better care experience for both patients and providers in rural communities." As Tribal communities are some of the most underserved populations in rural areas, it will be critical that these discussions include ways that CMS can partner with Tribal nations and non-Tribal organizations to reduce physician and other workforce shortages in rural Tribal medical facilities. Expanding GME programs would be a great solution! Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eRwMHihE Elizabeth Palmarozzi; David J. Park,; Drew Babcock; Cindra Stahl; LeeAnna Muzquiz, Joshua Goldberg

The prevalence of #OpioidUseDisorder (OUD) is increasing nationally, and research shows it can significantly impact behavioral and physical health. Excellent work by my colleagues at the Elevance Health Public Policy Institute who have released a report that explores how Medicaid managed care plans can integrate behavioral and physical health benefits to improve outcomes for members experiencing OUD, spotlighting integrated care outcomes from an Elevance Health affiliated Medicaid plan in West Virginia. https://ow.ly/ve1X30sCgyz

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has hosted several recent webinars highlighting how it's National Quality Strategy is being implemented. Two of the sessions I attended, "Prioritizing Patient Safety Through Quality Measurement" and "AI in Quality Measurement" emphasized current cross-agency federal collaboration (AHRQ-CDC-CMS-FDA-ONC) and a focus on the shared strategy goals highlighted below. This initiative, launched in 2022, sets and raises "the bar for a resilient, high-value health care system that promotes quality outcomes, safety, equity, and accessibility for all individuals, especially for people in historically underserved and under-resourced communities." ?? ???????? https://lnkd.in/ecrEtSwu https://lnkd.in/eSRyisWT #healthcarequality #patientsafety #healthcareoutcomes #highvaluecare #patientaccess #patientcenteredcare #healthadvocacy
