The presentation showcased the design and management of water systems at Architectural Nexus, and why water is a critical design driver in Utah. Leaders from Arch Nexus shared part of a program that pushes the boundaries of what is possible in regenerative building design and how Arch Nexus has gamified occupant behavior. Join Lisa Carey Moore and members of Architectural Nexus's team for a fun and informative presentation "Level Up Your Eco-Game: A Fun Approach to Sustainability" on Friday, September 27 at the firm's office in Salt Lake City that received Petal Certification under ILFI's LBC program. As part of the firm's comprehensive program to push the boundaries of what is possible in regenerative building design, they have created a tool to address the critical factor in building performance: occupant behavior. The goal is to create new habits to address water, energy, and other resource use in a fun and supportive environment so buildings can reach their full potential. The program will begin with a networking breakfast, and after the presentation, participants will be offered a tour of this exciting new space, including the innovative systems that helped the project achieve ILFI's Water Petal in one of the country's driest states! Architectural Nexus holds a monthly sketch trip, each occasion is a unique location. In September, our Sacramento office explored the charm of Milka Coffee Roasters on G Street, while our Salt Lake City team captured the vibe of Holladay Village Plaza.

Yesterday, ULI Utah's Women's Leadership Initiative hosted a dynamic panel discussion focused on adopting climate-positive, environmentally friendly practices in the development industry. With the built environment responsible for approximately 42% of global CO2 emissions, much of the conversation centered on how to use alternative materials and processes to reduce the carbon footprint of both building operations and the embodied carbon of key materials like cement, iron, steel, and aluminum. The panelists, leading voices in sustainable architecture and construction, discussed the obstacles or implementing innovation and emphasized the importance of collaboration between public officials and design teams to improve building codes and regulations. Attendees left with fresh perspectives and inspiration to keep the conversation moving forward.
