Congratulations Lisa Govro, Big Heart Tea Co. and team!
This was a we moment, not a me moment. Big Heart Tea Co. was on Good Morning America this week to help celebrate women-owned businesses for Women’s History Month. In previous years, this recognition would not only have been appreciated but expected. Yet, recent politicization has literally erased this moment from calendars, deleted our achievements from government websites, and insulted our impact—all under an administration focused on bringing us back to a time when our past and current successes and opportunities would not have been possible. Thank you to Good Morning America for prioritizing this and helping us celebrate OUT LOUD the amazing contributions we make to our communities, economy, and families. In light of it all, I want to take this opportunity to point out some facts about the contributions women make to the business world: — Higher ROI: Women-led startups generate roughly 2× more revenue per dollar of funding than male-led startups. — Multiplier Effect: Women entrepreneurs reinvest up to 90% of their income back into their families and communities (vs. ~30-40% for men). — Economic Growth: The number of women-owned businesses is surging. From 2019 to 2023, new women-owned firms grew at nearly double the rate of those owned by men. So let’s get this straight: women-owned businesses are growing at far higher rates than men’s, we are outperforming them in straight-up dollars, and we reinvest more into our communities. In the words of JD Vance, “Did you even say thank you?” Despite systemic challenges, women entrepreneurs continue to innovate, lead, and make an outsized impact. We’re amazing but don’t be scared, we want everyone to succeed! Join us!
