?? In the news: Greenhill Energy signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KSI Sawmills supporting both company’s commitment to working towards greater sustainability. Subject to regulatory approvals KSI Sawmills will supply the proposed Riverbend Energy Hub? with timber residues from its proposed new sawmill site at Monarto, South Australia’s Murrylands region which is expected to commence construction in 2024 and operations in 2025. “The proposed sawmill development would be a welcome nearby Murraylands regional partner in Greenhill Energy’s circular economy supply chain” said Nicholas Mumford, Managing Director. Upper South Creek turns up the (concrete) volume! ??????? The team delivering Sydney Water's Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre (AWRC) is continuing to hit milestones, with recent concrete pours marking a major step forward for the project. Nearly 4,000 cubic metres of concrete has been poured across two slabs to date to form the foundations for the bioreactor. From the air, you can get an insight into the size and scale of the job at hand! ?? ?? It’s a massive team effort involving more than 600 concrete trucks, dozens of concreters, testers and traffic controllers, and 5 concrete boom pumps. ????♂?Both pours were delivered safely and successfully, following months of detailed planning. The team is now working on bringing the remaining structures out of the ground. We love getting the monthly CarbonBuilt production numbers from Blair Block LLC. In May, they produced over 2,500 tons of ultra-low carbon CarbonBuilt concrete – the equivalent of more than 150,000 8” blocks and the monthly production capacity of a typical concrete block production line operating with a single shift. It's been a journey! Hey, you in the #ForestProducts industry—did you know that the U.S. Forest Service offers grants for certain capital projects? Every year (and twice last year), the office accepts applications for its Wood Innovations grant program and its Community Wood Energy program. The former offers grants of up to $300K toward upgrades to wood processing systems, while the latter supplies grants of up to $1M (and, in rare cases, up to $1.5M). The office also offered a related grant last year, the "Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance Grants," which funds wood processing facilities for improving, establishing, retrofitting, or expanding facilities that purchase and process byproducts from ecosystem restoration projects from federal or tribal lands." Here at Creagh Concrete the Executive Team are aware of their responsibilities to demonstrate the Company’s commitment to reduce the environmental impact of its Products and activities. Project Repurpose identified three levels of recovering wood production products used to form and transport concrete products. The project team lead by the site continuous improvement lead has reduced the amount of virgin timber used within the business by 52 % at one of our facilities and 27% at the our largest site. By recovering and repurposing these timber byproducts we have reduced the equivalent of 522 trees from our supply chain.?UK Sitka spruce grown in the UK for timber, the sequestered carbon of these trees equates to over 10,000 tons of Carbon over the period. 10,000 tonnes of carbon eliminated equates to:?1.1 billion charges of a smart phone. #sustainability?#carbonreduction?#netzeroemissions #repurpose
