Stay Alive and Investigate A must have training for all police and first responders in today's world. The course will focus on the initial response to a possible Fentanyl overdose or death in the field, officer safety issues, what the initial first responders should do when responding to these scenes, and how to decide if a detective response is necessary. I’ve read a lot of recent posts on many topics (including politics,). I say this: If you have never served in the Military, in Law Enforcrment, as a Firefighter, EMT, ER Nurse, or Teacher/Trainer then you have limited knowledge on which to base valid opinions on Military Action & Effects, Use of Force, Lethal Force, Public Safety, Rescue, Triage and Curriculum. If you have never been been in physical fear for you life, gone without so someone else need not, had to decide how to priortize among assorted needs or even just (personally) purchased a loaf of bread and jar of peanut butter then you should not be making policy and laws concerning these issues. #SouthwestAirlines is attempting to decertify a 3,000-member class action USERRA case by arguing that discrepancies between military and company leave records make class treatment impossible. As a #veteran and #employment lawyer, this defense strategy is concerning. Here's why this matters: Southwest's argument essentially suggests that because different Guard/Reserve units have varying drill schedules and documentation practices, employers shouldn't be held accountable under USERRA's class action provisions. This fundamentally undermines USERRA's core purpose of protecting servicemembers' employment rights. While better military service tracking would be beneficial, the suggestion that a major airline should escape liability simply because tracking military leave is "inconvenient" runs counter to USERRA's protective intent. The law was designed to safeguard servicemembers' rights, not create procedural hurdles that make discrimination claims impossible to pursue. This case (Huntsman v. Southwest Airlines) highlights why robust USERRA enforcement matters.
