From the Founder's Desk Prateek Prasoon Shifting my perspective as a technologist made all the difference for me. At the start of my journey with CloudPrism, my focus was on: - Uplifting communities through technology. - Bridging the digital divide in Bihar. - Nurturing businesses and individuals. After spending about half a year working tirelessly, a sense of burnout started setting in. It wasn't due to a lack of effort. It was because I was juggling too many tasks, ones that were vastly distinct from each other. The key I realized is to concentrate on one thing at a time and give it your complete effort. I found myself focusing on the wrong elements. Now, my focus has shifted to: - Creating innovative solutions that make a genuine impact. - Simplifying agricultural processes through technology. - Increasing healthcare delivery and improving livelihoods. I moved from having a mindset of "I should do this too because everyone else in the tech sector is doing it" to "Is this valuable to the people of Bihar and is it creating a substantial impact?". The moment my focus shifted towards creating impact, rather than just chasing vanity metrics, it all started to come together. Coming from Bihar, I faced an uphill battle in pursuing a startup career. In my state, and especially in my family, government jobs like IAS were the golden standard. Nearly everyone I knew was in civil services. But I had a different dream. I wanted to innovate, create, and build something of my own. To chase this vision, I knew I needed to step out of my comfort zone! So, I made a bold move. I left Bihar to pursue my graduation in Odisha. It wasn't just about getting a degree, it was about gaining exposure to a world beyond what I knew. This decision wasn't easy. I faced resistance and skepticism. Many couldn't understand why I'd turn my back on the "safe" path. But I knew that to grow, I needed to challenge the status quo. During my graduation, I discovered new perspectives, met diverse people, and learned about the startup ecosystem. This experience fueled my entrepreneurial spirit and gave me the confidence to pursue my own path. Today, as I build my startup OpenIntervue, I'm grateful for that crucial decision to step out and explore. It's taught me that sometimes, the road less traveled leads to the most rewarding destinations. The biggest lesson I've learned? To build something great, you often have to ditch the conventional. 75% Reservation for locals in Private Jobs in Karnataka - a positive move ?? Earlier this week, the Karnataka state government had given the nod to 'The?Karnataka?State Employment of Local Candidates in the Industries, Factories and Other Establishments Bill, 2024', mandating 75% reservation in non-management jobs and 50% in management jobs for locals. It has a positive impact. Companies may think to open their offices in other cities when they will face the crunch in skilled human resources locally. The pressure on Bengaluru will reduce, in return the demand for properties and other commodities/services will reduce. The cost of leaving in Bengaluru may reduce. If companies will choose the other promising, less costlier cities as their destination, they may get less expensive employees and can reduce their operating costs. On the other hand, employees may lead their lives relatively in comfort by reducing their living costs. As a whole, through this decentralization process, both the parties (employees & employers) will get cutting edge benefits. What surprised me, was the cleanliness of the city. For a city in the northern-central part of India, something you can’t imagine. Indore has been the cleanest city in India for the last six years. I spent two days in Indore(client-sponsored), meeting youngsters and exploring the city. I was impressed by how well-educated and vibrant the youth are. It’s evident higher education makes a lot of difference. With 3 universities, a several good??colleges, and top institutions like IIT and IIM, education here is a priority. You can see it in the way people carry themselves—polite and well-mannered. I was even surprised that auto drivers could manage conversations in English, so language is not a barrier. Apart from a few power cuts, Indore is set up perfectly for business expansion. It’s just a two-hour flight from Chennai, Bangalore, or Hyderabad. If you’re thinking about expanding to North or West India, Indore should be on your radar. For me, the food was a big highlight—especially the famous namkeens and, of course, the unforgettable hospitality of the client team. Even the street vendors left a mark.
