Our hearts go out to our neighbors, friends, families, and communities affected by Hurricane Helene. ?? The devastation in ASP's service area weighs heavy on us all. One of our staff members’ families lost everything to the floodwaters - homes, farm animals, their livelihood. They are just one story in a community full of loss and heartache. Please consider supporting ASP at https://lnkd.in/gnFEenPA as we assist with recovery efforts, both immediately and in the months to come. Every donation helps rebuild lives. Our region is resilient, but the impact of Hurricane Helene is profound. #HelpAfterHelene #ASPhome Photo courtesy of Tri-Cities Weather & Alert Crew and Erin Arnold

Looking for ways to support Hurricane Helene relief? Michelle Rodenburg from the Law Library has put together a resource guide of how to help. This Resource Guide is a collection of online resources intended to help the North Carolina community seek information on disaster relief efforts for those impacted by Hurricane/Tropical Storm Helene. An effort was made to include only those resources that are trustworthy, but please be aware that there are many unreliable resources on the Internet (fake charities, scams, unreliable construction companies, etc). New websites and relief efforts are continuing to develop. #CarolinaLaw #ServicetotheState https://lnkd.in/eMVjQjGx

The images over the last few weeks from Hurricane Helene and the devastating impacts the storm has had on the communities of Western North Carolina, and the nearby states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia have demonstrated the critical need for communities to support each other in times of crisis. As members of the transportation community, we regularly rise to the occasion when crises occur to our people or to the infrastructure that we maintain so people can go about their daily lives. In this time of great need in these states, we ask that you rise to the occasion again and consider contributing to organizations helping in the recovery and rebuilding of communities in Western North Carolina and all of the states experiencing the devastating events of the last few weeks. ?????? ?????????? ???? ?????????????????? ?????? ?????????????????????? As Hurricane Milton swept through Central Florida, we found ourselves without power. Our generator worked during our testing, but then the battery died, and we faced two hours in the dark before getting it back up and running. In hindsight, this was a small challenge. Our next challenge was the threat of flooding. We live on the Econlockhatchee River?and watched?water levels rise. We were fortunate here too, as the river crested on Saturday and did not damage our house. What stood out the most to me during this storm and afterward was how people came together. Neighbors, friends, and family checking in and offering to help. Special thanks to my sister-in-law for meeting us halfway to evacuate my mother-in-law to a safer location. Two lessons learned for us: ??1?? Preparation is key. I've learned that not only must we test the generator, but also dig a little deeper for any possible issues. ??2??Remaining calm under pressure was vital, especially working in the rain and darkness. I know there are?those who had it much worse. For this reason, I'm giving back by donating platelets at OneBlood. Here are a few ways you can help those affected by the storm: ?? ???????????????? – Blood and platelet donations are critical in emergencies. If you are eligible, consider donating. https://www.oneblood.org/ ??? ???????????????? ?????? ?????????? – You can donate online at https://www.redcross.org/ ??? ?????? ?????????????? ???????? – They are currently focusing on relief from Hurricanes Helene and Milton (including pets evacuated from shelters). https://greatergood.org/ ? Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all the first responders, utility workers, and staff who are tirelessly helping our communities recover. #HurricaneMilton #CommunitySupport #Gratitude

Hurricane Helene is one of the deadliest storms to ever hit the United States, leaving behind hundreds of miles of catastrophic damage and changing lives forever. The American Red Cross has launched a massive response to ensure no one faces this challenging time alone. Across the Southeast, hundreds of people are still missing, and damaged roads and bridges have cut off entire communities, making it difficult to get help to those areas. People need water, food, medicine and medical care. Tens of thousands of homes have been affected and some 1.3 million customers — about 4 million people — are still without power. People affected by Hurricane Helene need urgent help now. You can help by making a financial donation by visiting?redcross.org,?calling 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or texting the word HELENE to 90999.?Financial donations for Hurricane Helene enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from this disaster.
