I will be presenting one of our research projects at the upcoming AADE (American Association of Drilling Engineers) conference Title: Influence of lost circulation materials on the rheology of spacers and cements Presentation time: 11-11:30, Apr. 16, 2024 (Texas B) Abstract: Lost circulation materials (LCM) are commonly used in the oil and gas industry to control lost circulation during drilling and completion activities. LCMs come in various particle sizes, shapes, and specific gravities and can alter a slurry’s physical properties and rheological behavior.?This may ultimately lead to a negative impact on equivalent circulating density (ECD) and downhole frictional pressures. Understanding the impact of LCM on fluid rheology is essential. Conventional rheology measurements using a bob and sleeve viscometer are limited when measuring spacer and cement slurries with LCM fully incorporated due to the restricted gap between the rotor and bob.?Therefore, the rheology of spacer and cement slurries is often measured without LCM material contained. This study focuses on evaluating the changes in the rheological properties of cement slurries and spacers containing LCM.? A model, initially developed for the rheology of high solids hydraulic fracturing fluids, is applied to the rheology of spacers and cements containing LCM and evaluated using a mixing type bob and sleeve technique.?The influence of particle size, shape, and specific gravity of LCMs is studied by loading spacer and cement slurries with different material types at various loading levels.?Combination of a predictive tool and laboratory measurements improves estimations about the rheological behavior of LCM containing cement slurries and spacers at job design levels and aids in optimizing drilling and completion operations. 2024 Fluids Tech Conference & Exhibition :: American Association of Drilling Engineers (aade.org)

Improve production efficiency using PROSPER software In the world of petroleum engineering, PROSPER is considered one of the most important tools for evaluating and analyzing well performance and designing optimal production systems During my work, I have relied on PROSPER for multiple applications, including: 1?? Artificial lift design and performance sensitivity analysis 2?? Evaluating flow rates using advanced flow models 3?? Simulating the effect of pressure and temperature changes on production What distinguishes the program is its accuracy and ease of use in providing innovative solutions to improve production If you are an engineer or interested in discussing PROSPER applications or brainstorming production improvement ideas, I would love to connect with you! #Petroleum_Engineering #PROSPER #Production_Improvement

Let's take a moment and look back at the history of petroleum engineering science. From the first well in 1859 it took a while for petroleum engineers to figure out the fluid properties correlations, like gas z factor in 1942 and oil bubble point in 1947. First multi-phase flow correlation was developed in 1965 followed by the Nodal Analysis in 1979. Invention of computers allowed petroleum engineers to apply correlations at a wide scale, with full 3D simulation being available in 1992. It's good to know that those fundamental correlations are coded into the #pengtools #petroleumengineering #software and available for you to use. For the detailed correlations descriptions you can visit our wiki page. Learn from the history & apply to the future.

This year marks the Centennial anniversary of the?Society of Petroleum Engineers International?Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition, and over 10,000 delegates from around the world are expected to attend. Don't miss the opportunity to showcase your expertise at?#ATCE2024! Specialize in Drilling? Take advantage of this opportunity to share your knowledge. Submit your paper proposal by Feb. 19th. The conference is accepting abstract submissions on various #drilling topics. Drilling is the mechanical process that achieves access to a geological target from a surface location. It requires detailed planning to take account of the physical properties of the rock to be penetrated and the geometrical path required to reach the objective. To be successful, the process requires technical knowledge of the equipment required and of the hydraulic processes essential to enabling rock removal, with many disciplines working together to achieve well-construction objectives. Analysis of well operations, equipment, technologies, and fluids, as well as digitalization and automation, allow operators to improve systems, processes, and well-site execution.?
