Memphis District’s outstanding Mound City, IL Sump Project Delivery Team (PDT), quarterbacked by Project Manager Marsha Raus, has gained another critical first down towards scoring a big WIN—Safely delivering a quality project on time and within budget—by reaching the exciting groundbreaking milestone. The PDT is working in partnership with our non-federal partner, Mound City, Illinois, and our contractor partner Southern Contracting, LLC, to deliver this important project. Memphis District Commander Col. Brian Sawser and Deputy Engineer for Programs and Project Management Donny Davidson joined Project Manager Raus and our non-federal partner represented by Mound City Mayor Allison Madison, in a celebratory groundbreaking ceremony. The project will install four pressure relief wells that will address underseepage that threatens the integrity of the levee along the Ohio River at Mound City by collecting and draining the water in a safe, controlled manner. The $670k contract for this project, funded by the Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act,?includes drilling, sampling, and testing of pilot hole borings; clearing and minor earthwork to prepare well locations; drilling and installation of relief wells; development and pump testing of wells following installation; and erosion protection features.? #memphisdistrictwinning
