In Busia County, the Giving for Change Programme has successfully partnered with Dhamira Moja CBO to establish the Busia Community of Practice (COP), a platform for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to collaborate on development issues. Key achievements include training 15 organizations on budget advocacy, leading to impactful memos on county budget documents that influenced government decisions. The COP has empowered local organizations to contribute to important policy discussions, including on gender, child protection, and disaster management, thereby driving meaningful community development. As Chair of the UN Safe City Winnipeg Initiative, I am deeply committed to creating safer, more inclusive spaces for women, girls, and Two-Spirit individuals across our city. This initiative is part of a global movement under UN Women’s Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces program, focused on addressing and preventing violence in public spaces. My goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, can live, work, and participate fully in public life without fear of violence or discrimination.
