This week we had a great Unstuck Tuesday session - a dozen innovators from not only the DMV but also France, India, and Panama! Here were some key takeaways: ?? Bootstapping your startup? Stuck on how to get traction when resources are limited? ? One founder asked: "How are we supposed to show investors that we are engaging users on the platform when we don't have the enough money to create or pay for an MVP?" Our Advice: Keep it simple. Think about what you need to demonstrate or prove with your MVP, and focus on that alone. Remember that an MVP doesn't have to be perfect. ?? Investors love data that shows traction. Track your progress and your user engagement. Data is everything. Show it, don't just say it. ?? 4446 minutes of calls in just 3 days! ?? Last week, the startups in our newest cohort collectively completed 234 calls, each lasting exactly 19 minutes. Over those three days, each startup had between 22 and 38 calls - commitment at its finest! Some might call this process intense, but it works. As soon as startups join our program, we immediately start the search for their dedicated advisory board together with the startup. Each board is designed to include a lead mentor, with whom founders often share a personal connection, along with 3-4 advisors who challenge them on specific topics and expertise. These calls are a crucial time investment in finding the perfect mentors and advisors. For the third time, we partnered with ConversationStarter.net to streamline this process, using their AI to create optimized agendas that matched startup needs with our network’s availability. Feedback from our startups has been fantastic - they’ve expressed the real value of these conversations and the depth of insights gained. Yesterday, we wrapped up the matchmaking, and now every team has its advisory board in place, ready to dive into the following 10 weeks of the Birdhouse program!
