?? Job Postings Below ?? A co-worker and I were debating if we should pass on a candidate for not sending a thank-you note to us after an interview. Although I think it's a nice gesture, I focus on the candidate and the interview itself, and it doesn't bother me if I don’t get a thank-you note. My co-worker thinks otherwise, and says it’s common courtesy to send one, and speaks to the person’s character. Another co-worker said that sending thank-you notes is a dying art, and the "next generation" typically doesn’t send thank you notes. ?? Well I decided to ask #chatgpt and the images you see are its responses. I asked it: 1?? What are your thoughts about if a candidate doesn't send a thank-you note after a job interview? 2?? Should I pass on a candidate for not sending me a thank-you note after a job interview? ? What do you think? Let me know in the comments. In the meantime, I see a lot of ?#opentowork?or?#hiring Here’s a couple of #jobopenings that I thought would be relevant to my network. ???OMD USA Executive Director, Digital Activation New York, NY?Hybrid https://lnkd.in/eUa68nF2 ?? I have a clarification question…are we talking about a snail mail thank you card? Also, chat gpt has told me many times that it doesn’t have an opinion ??

This cuts both ways, for the person that would pass on a candidate that didn't send a thank you note, are you always replying to every candidate that you interview with declines? Or are you ghosting them? Hmmm.

I always thought it was best practice to send a thank you note. Snail mail is always more memorable. However, working at a global company, I raised this point about a candidate who didn't send any sort of follow-up. My colleagues from another country told me it is not common in their culture and that a candidate might fear that they would seem too "pushy" by sending a note.

Thank you notes are a must. If you don’t send one, you don’t really want the role. And, does that mean you’re not going to send a follow up to a customer? It’s the thoughtful gesture that shows a person cares. And, it should be a well thought out messages - after all it’s an additional opportunity to show a potential employer your style, how you write, how you think, and most importantly, its an opportunity to remind them why they should “buy the future you” (right Joanna Bloor?)!

I will always send a thank you note if I'm interested in a position. Once I have an interview if I don't feel it's for me I don't bother wasting my time or theirs. I feel it's less about the actual thank you, although that's included as it is a nice practice, but more to remind the person hiring why I would be the best fit for the job. Maybe there is something you missed saying in an interview or a question wasn't asked or you wanted to point out a skill that would help you stand out from others. It's sooo much more than a thank you.

Thank you for helping spread the word about the open roles at Orion!! If anyone from your network is interested in learning more, we're happy to help connect them to right people.

IMHO, penalizing candidates for not sending a thank you note is a practice that ended 5-7 years ago for most companies. It's a nice gesture, and sure it can help, but it's by no means mandatory or disqualifying - especially for senior roles.

I send thank you emails when I have an email address to send them to. Or I might send it to the HR generalist who set me up with the hiring manager. I've tried to send them through LinkedIn when I don't have an email address. But I've found that hardly any of them check in on here regularly so there's no real point. As for hand written thank yous, I wouldn't know where to send one in this age of remote working. Every interview I've had has been with someone working out of their home.

I’m old school. A thank you email is a must - with relevant comments to the discussion or what you can bring to the role.

I'm 50/50 on it. It's a nice gesture, but completely disregarding someone shows that there is a clear bias in rejecting the candidate. As the AI states, the candidate meets requirements and is qualified but my own bias is going to guide me on this one. /shrug/
