We hope you'll join us February 19 for the first installment of the Sustainable Structures Webinar Series. The live webinar, titled "SICK North America Campus and the Future of Concrete Construction" will feature Hailey Arterburn, P.E. (Thornton Tomasetti); Josh Edwards (AVR, Inc.); Matthew Smith (MEYER BORGMAN JOHNSON); and Nate Weingart (Ancoats). Date: Wednesday, February 19, 2025 Time: 12:00 – 1:00 pm CT Cost: FREE Credits: 1 PDH or 1 AIA CES LU/HSW Register: https://cvent.me/82NqMA Utilizing the SICK North America Campus project as an example, this presentation will include practical suggestions on how to use EPD’s on a project. Presenters will provide information about where the embodied carbon can come from on a large commercial construction project and how to lower that carbon footprint. Presenters will share their insights on having project level conversations about embodied carbon and global warming potential that will lead to a successful project. Presenters will also provide specification requirements for performance mix designs and EPD’s. SICK is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems, machine vision, encoders and automatic identification products for industrial applications. The construction of this new campus is a multi-year, multi-phase project. Aligning with SICK’s mission to focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, SICK’s new campus also incorporates several green initiatives. These include solar infrastructure, electrical vehicle charging stations, high efficiency mechanical systems, and a below-grade rainwater filtration system. The concrete was specified to have a very low environmental impact. Since the time measurements of embodied carbon have been tracked, the SICK Office and Resource Center will utilize some of the lowest embodied carbon concrete mixes of any building project in the State of Minnesota. This webinar is part of the 2025 Sustainable Structures Webinar Series. The sponsors of the Sustainable Structures Webinar Series are PCI Midwest; PCI Mountain States; Precast | PCI of Illinois & Wisconsin; Minnesota Concrete Council; Nebraska Concrete & Aggregates Association; North Dakota Concrete Council; Oklahoma Ready Mixed Concrete Association; South Dakota Ready Mix Concrete Association; Wisconsin Ready Mixed Concrete Association (WRMCA); ACI Missouri Chapter; and the Concrete Promotional Group of Greater Kansas City. #HowPrecastBuilds #buildwithstrength
