Internship. The concept of internship is beautiful. Being able to put what you’ve learned theoretically into practice is everything. I believe that’s what makes university studies great. Being able to acquire knowledge and seeing everything that you saw in your module come to life. This helps students to actually make a decision about their career. Being in the environment that you might stay for the rest of your life, interacting with prospective employers and colleagues is everything. During this time, you are going to either hate your job or love your job, and this is mostly because of the working colleagues you meet. Some of them will try to make you happy and experience the working environment positively while others will try to make you change your life decisions. Those that will make you want to change your life decisions, are sometimes those that are threatened by your presence. This may be because of your degree or your ideas and a sort of contribution you make. They feel threatened by your presence seeing how you have suddenly made a sort of contribution they weren’t able to make for some years. But if you’re able to stand your ground and stay focused on your goal, you can successfully complete your internship and perhaps get employed. Those that make you feel welcome are the ones that see your potentials and appreciate your contribution. Those are the ones that you can genuinely learn from. You pay heed to their critics and advice and it shall polish you till your period is over. Mind you, they can be references for your future employment.
